GMA X3100 better than Geforce 6100?

I was just curious if this made sense...I have two PCs running Vista, a Lenovo T61 notebook with integrated GMA X3100 video (Core 2 Duo) and a new desktop that has nForce 405/Geforce 6100 video (Athlon 64 3500+). And in the Windows Experience index, the 3100 has a 3.5 mark but the Geforce 6100 has a 3.0...I was very surprised, I know the Geforce 6100 is previous generation, but does this make sense? I was just curious...

First off, the WEI scores that are reported in Vista are at best a general indicator.
Accuracy isn't usually very close.

That said, yes, the X3100 should outperform the nV 6100 in most everything.

In what sense do you want to compare the two? For Aero and 3D desktop, X3100 is better. For linux support and (gasp) games, GF6100 might actually be better due to better drivers. What I'm not sure is which one is better at PDF drawing now that Acrobat supports GPU rendering. Either way, I don't think there really is much to be gained by comparing the two, other than.. umm.. e-pen1s factor.

i think the gma x3100 might be better in linux.

i dont exactly have the same experience as the 2 you are talking about, but i have a gma3100 and as far as i can tell getting it to work right in ubuntu was easier than a geforce 6200 TC. the turbo cache driver over dvi was harder to make work for me on a hdmi TV.. but yeah i would figure its fairly similar in linux


a gma 3100 is about as fast as a 6200 TC. i think a 6200 TC is faster than a 6150

7150 beats all. or maybe x3500. But yea, I think the X3100 is better than the 6100.
