This is why I will never buy a GM car.

Not only are their products junk but they flat out fucking bold face lied to every American tax payer in that commercial.

And see what? I agree with you that they are giving back money that was given to them. I just don't agree that it was done specifically for some publicity stunt. They had more money (from the bailouts) than they ultimately needed and they paid it back. It gives them positive media and shows that they are making the right steps. I've already said several times that I did not agree with bailing out them in the first place...I'm just glad we're starting to get our money back.
We loaned them $10 and then they paid back $5 using part of that $10. They then made a huge string of commercials saying how they are doing so well and have paid off all of their loans. You think this is an indicator that they are doing well and have repaid their debts. I think that they still owe us $5, that their commercials are false advertising, and that anyone who buys it is an idiot.

I buy a car from you for $10.
I give you $10
You give me the car.

According to you, you now owe me the $10 ?

We bought GM stock for $10 billion
GM got the $10 billion
We got the stock.

They don't "owe" us the $10 billion.

Then they used part of the $10 billion to pay us back a loan.

We still have the stock. When we sell it, we get what we get. Might be more than $10 billion, might be less.

All along it was never about "May the best car win" instead it was "May the best liar win"! They should just give this company to the Union and the gov't get out of it. And then we'll see if Unions can take a dose of their own medicine and survive.

Don't let "facts" and "logic" interfere with all the fun the right wingers are having. Not that they'd let that stop them anyway.

Amazing how many people completely ignore this fact. Ford was doing just as bad as GM a few years ago, luckily for them they ran out of money first and were in danger of going under had they not mortgaged everything including their office furniture. GM wasn't so lucky, damn banks refused to lend out anymore money.
He who dares wins. Ford just had their best quarter in 6 years I think.

the funny thing about the whole GM/Chrysler govt loan thing is that every new government plated vehicle I have seen lately is a Ford!

GM lost $4.3 billion in 2009. How can a company that lost $4.3 billion claim to have repaid $10 billion of debt? Meanwhile, GM stock is worth 68 cents a share. It doesn't add up...and a commercial that makes those kind of claims doesn't convince me.
