VP of Lexus seems to agree with Greenman:

And you would buy those cars.
You're funny.
Chinese manufacturing helped bring us to the era of $300 40" HDTV's and $250 laptops. Maybe they'll bring us to the era of the $15,000 brand new SUV as well... but I doubt it.

So what? Everything is made in China now.
iPhones, LED TVs, cars, clothing, pretty much everything else.
Those who claim to only buy "made in USA" are delusional. In this time of globalization, nothing is 100% made in one country. If you see that advertised, then they are lying to you.
What the hell is a Chery?
Their light-duty can openers are terrible. Light, weak steel that cannot puncture the can deep enough and catch the lip. But the almost 20-30 year old can opener that has been in my family works perfectly to this day. Ecko miracle can opener 885. Google it.
$250 laptops did not exist until Chromebooks were pumped out. Even netbooks were above $300 and before then, nothing was really there at the 300 dollar price point.
People have low standards for TV picture quality and hence they buy the cheapest TV they can find.

Chinese car company famous for making knock-offs of other 'real' cars and ripping-off their designs almost exactly.
I didn't say that the car wasn't going to any less crappy than a $250 laptop or a $300 TV... I'm just hoping that it's going to be cheaper![]()
Not a chance since Buicks is supposed to be "upscale" and will be priced accordingly.
I thought caddy was upscale, buick is kinda stuck in the middle.
Did anyone read the article?
They have been making that car in China for the last year. 140k units produced. Why would you tool up another plant to make a car for another market? Why not just export it?
Big manufacturers frequently have multiple plants creating the same car for regional markets. That isn't unusual. It just depends on how many they expect to sell. This probably won't sell enough to justify another facility in the US. It being built in China will guarantee mediocre sales.
My CR-Z, while "made in Japan" had quite a few parts stamped made in Vietnam. Just saying, it's happening slowly but surely.meanwhlie, at Honda, Toyota, and Hyundai...

The new Buick Envision to be sold in US will be manufactured and assembled in China. Do you think the American consumers will accept this? Would you buy one yourself if you were in the market for a crossover like this?
