The new Buick Envision to be sold in US will be manufactured and assembled in China. Do you think the American consumers will accept this? Would you buy one yourself if you were in the market for a crossover like this?

Wouldn't own one. The interior will be contaminated with God only knows what. Materials used throughout will be sub standard, tolerances will be sloppy. I also have issues with benefiting from the misery of others.

Chinese goods are to be avoided whenever possible, food products from China should be outright banned in the US, I won't eat anything from China, nor will I feed it to my dog.

Aren't most Apple products assembled in China? They're certainly known for sub-par materials, shoddy workmanship, and inconsistency.

Yes I would even consider a Mexican made Honda over a Chinese made GM car. If I have a choice, I would prefer a car made in Japan. Maybe with the dollar rising, the Japanese will import more cars to the U.S.

Those who claim to only buy "made in USA" are delusional. In this time of globalization, nothing is 100% made in one country. If you see that advertised, then they are lying to you.

With GM backing I would expect quality similar to a domestically produced product.

Disclaimer: Not sure why Mexican made VWs had such a bad reputation compared to German made. And don't forget Honda had some issues with the first batches of Mexican made Fits.

A fruit, more specifically, a lemon from China. It may resemble a car made by BMW, Mercedes, or other European designed cars, but it's still a lemon. A very deadly lemon for the buyers and family members.

It was sold abroad before it was sold in the U.S. If demand in the U.S for Buicks actually increase a lot(lol), it would make sense to manufacture some here.

But like Foxconn making their own mobos and for Intel in the past, the quality of the goods depends on how much the boss(Intel/GM) wants to put "quality" in their products. GM still needs to make a buck over in China, so their OEM quality should still be spec'd to a higher level than mere aftermarket Chinese if they don't want to taint the brand perception they built over there.

I don't mind of a company starts building stuff in the country locally to where they are selling things because it just makes sense (and from what I gather, Buick has been fairly big in China for a while now). But to then bring a China-made Buick back over over, well... :|

Bailouts are almost always in the form of a loan, with the hope of repayment.

Bailout doesn't mean "free money".

It was a bailout loan...that lost a hell of a lot of taxpayer money, but at least it kept GM alive and gave FIAT a nice acquisiton...

GM could repay that money by building those cars here.
