Are there any common issues to be aware of for GM's LX9 engine?

In doing a lot of search, there is not a lot of information that I could find. Overall it seemed to be a good engine but one possible issue is that the plastic seals it used could leak. Even though I couldn't find much about it engine, it concerns me that GM used it for such a short period of time. (2004-2006)

Thanks!

Its a ok engine. It was not really used for a short time, its just it got updated and was still being used. Kinda like the LS1 and LS2 are, for the most part, the same with just some updates.

I would guess they transitioned to the LZ4 due to common architecture with the LZ9 (3900).

The LX9, as I understand it, was the last of it's lineage of the old basic 60degree V6's in GM's lineup. it basically implemented fixes to all the pathetic shortcomings of the 3400 (gaskets that took ten years to resolve...HELLO!). That said, it's probably a very good engine for the long term...being the last of it's line
