GM looks to revive it's sedan lineup...GOOD LUCK!!

<< At least Pontiac is moving away from their policy of maximizing their HorrendousBodyCladding? quotient. 😛 >>

Haha, true...true 🙂

30g's for a GM (Especially a monte carlo or malibu)..????

In the words of the immortal Wayne Campell "Shya RIGHT!"

Heck, Ford is still selling hundreds of thousands of Crown Victorias and Lincolns to elderly people all around the US every year. Not to mention that Ford now has the monopoly on the thousands of Police Cruisers sold to Law Enforcement agencies all over the US.

Dropping the Caprice was a bondhead move on GMs part...now a few years later they want to "revive" their sedan line....as has been said "Good Luck!"

GM will be out of luck unless they can come out with something as good as the new maxima or altima

Hmmm, so for $30,000 I can have a Chevy, or an Acura CL Type S. There's a tough choice.

GM is going to need one heck of a turn-around to pull this off given their history. I've talked with a few mechanics and they have all agreed that SAAB has gone decidedly downhill since the GM takeover, which doesn't bode well for GM's efforts here.

Damn, that's a great quote/way to put it! That sums it up, folks. Hmmm, Jim Beam and a gorgeous blond with plastic body parts, or Maddog 20/20 and a crack hoe? Tough choice! 😀

<< some Holdens look pretty damn awesome IMO.. those are some sexy cars... :Q >>

Yep, and the best part is that all their mid-size+ cars come with at least a supercharged V6,
and are available with the 5.7L V8.

Yeah, there's been a lot of talk about bringing the Monaro here and rebadging it, possibly as a Pontiac GTO.

We'll see, though.

GM needs get out of their shell. People are more open minding nowadays. Their not afraid to buy a "imported" car anymore and most people now (mainly the younger buyers) prefer the "imported" cars. GM needs to bring back their bread and butter, power and sytle.

Whew - good luck, GM! As an American I would obviously love to see them succeed, but I am very skeptical of their ability to build a sedan that would entice me to spend $30K. I for one would like to see GM return to its roots a bit and produce some RWD sedans with balls, a la the Impala SS or the Holdens. The LS1 is a proven winner, and offers decent fuel economy with great power. Combine a robust V-8 drivetrain with a decent suspension and decent interior (something GM has not produced in a long time), and they could have a great success.

Well, if there's anyone that could possibly do it, it'd be Bob Lutz...
Thank you Bob for forcing Dodge to build the Viper... Bob's a huge car guy but I suspect that after he tries to push out new innovative and better cars... they'll fire him. He said he wanted to base GM's comeback on the practices of GM's Ausssie division, Holden.

I just find GM incredibly lacking in the R&D department... granted they do have some interesting innovations in the truck/SUV segment (the Denali is chock full of good tech, wondering if it will be reliable), they are still using decade(s) old engines and bodies in the rest of their lineup.

Oh, another good example of the idiocy of GM... naming their Pontiac Vibe with a GT-R moniker. There's only one and true GT-R... that's the friggin SKYLINE!!! Blasphemy!
(Sport Compact Car had an editorial about this)
