I just saw their player/coach of the year thing during half-time. I like how a multibillion dollar company can afford to give an entire $2500 to St. Joe's. And then try to act like it was such a great gesture.

I'm not saying St. Joe's doesn't appreciate $2500.

What I am saying is that it's pathetic that GM has to have a whole PR setup when they donate $2500 to a college.

Yeah, GM sucks. They didn't waste any PR on the 75 million they donated over 2001.

Yea GM sucks even though they give more then honda, nissan, and toyota together.
Also when you see sponsered by UAW, that is money GM and the other makes give to them JUST for PR. So add that in also.

GM sucks

Of course, that is the only donation, promotion, or sponsorship GM gives money to all year long.

Prove that GM gives more than Honda, Nissan, and Toyota combined. Also, UAW and GM are different organizations therefore their figures should not be counted as one.

While I have no proof (but then again, I didn't make the original statement), every televised college football game that GM sponsered (and basketball game I've seen this season) has had the "Chevrolet player of the game" where they select one player from each team. They make a contribution to the scholarship fund for each school, which I imagine is at least a grand.

I watch a TON of college football, and I'd say at least 90% of the games I saw had a Chevrolet player of the game. I've NEVER seen a Toyota/Honda/Nissan/Ford player of the game

Everyone is ignoring my 75 million dollar figure. :(

At any rate, leveling criticism at someone for "not donating enough" is BS.

$2500 per team per game. That adds up, and it spreads out the donations. I suppose a ceremony might be gratuitous, but a little PR is worth the money for schools.

I am not sure how much GM donates compared to Honda et al - even though I bet it would be a whole lot more simply because GM is so much larger - however, GM does sponser and donate quite ab it thru the year.

Look at other companies in other areas, with pockets roughly as deep as the General's. Not much donation there, but who cares. GM probably pulls the money out of their advertising budgets because people now think they're buying from a warm, fuzzy, giving company. If they didn't get to whip out some PR when they gave away the money, I bet they wouldn't do it. Maybe it's possible other manufacturers just don't send out a press release every time they give away a few bucks.

GM is not entitled to give away anything.

Who cares if they gave $5, or $10, thats more than they would have without the donation.

$2500 could really help a team out. New uniforms, benches, drinks/meals, transportation, etc etc.
