I'd be more than happy with them just dropping this motor in the C6 and redoing the interior. I think the current C6 is a gorgeous car just let down by the interior. The engines are great...but I'd always love to see some improvement there.

I agree 100%.

One thing I'd like to see in a Corvette, a synchro-rev match system like the new Z car has. In fact, every MFG should be developing one ASAP, it's a no brainer.

I agree. ZV will disagree as he thinks it takes away some of the "skill" that is associated with enjoying a manual and rev-matching...but a system that does it perfectly every time sounds awesome to me.

Between the auto rev-match and hill hold tech they have in manuals these days...driving a manual is as easy as pie.

I have not seen a single car from BMW/Merc/Lexus that does this.

They were trying to imitate Ferrari's engine, and well, I prefer naked metal tbh

Google pretty much any BMW or Lexus (Heck, even Mazda does this too) and you will see almost all have engine covers.

I personally don't mind too much, they are easy to clean at least. :)

also, its closer to the road block thanks to the ZR1's dry sump being in there I am sure

I know some of this is just to "clean" up the engine bay...but I've also been under the impression that it is sometimes used as a heatshield... although the crappy plastic that these are made with seem like a poor material to use for this purpose.

I definitely prefer to see the working motor...but to each there own. Acura seems to be the worst at this from recent examples that I've seen. My wife's A4 has a simple cover...but still more than I'd like.

i'm fairly certain car companies don't want you to know there's an engine under there.

changing the battery in a jetta required disassembling about 50 pieces of plastic to get at it. annoying as hell doing that in a parking lot.

Unfortunately it doesn't keep them from shifting into a gear without using the clutch, shifting into the wrong gear for the given speed, or riding the clutch till baby jesus cries...that's what automatics are for unfortunately.

Oh snap. I'd prefer one that could be disabled and also am pro anything that would sell more manual cars in the US.

Otherwise it's hail to your new autotragic overlords.

Not really. GM makes OK cars but they tend to be pack followers and cheap out even though they keep high prices.

the CTS-V and the new Z06 and ZR-1 are pack followers and were cheaped out on?

or do you mean in general?

In general, they are cheaped out on yes

pack following? meh

The vette is the only car that they do proper R&D on IMHO, but it's still semi-cheap on the interior.

Caddies are followers to compete with BMW and other luxury brands. They do not innovate unless they are forced to do so.

I'd love to have a refresh like the Mustang on the Corvette. Slight exterior changes with an emphasis on the interior, drivetrain improvements, and the same weight or less. Move the Corvette interior away from the Cobalt and a little closer to the S5 and GM would have another winner.

Just like everyone else, I'd love to see some interior refinement too. It's not like they can't do it, the new Buick interiors are good.

If the engine is gorgeous, then don't cover it.

If the engine is ugly, then cover it.

well.

what do you expect when get a sports car for 70K that beats 1-200K sports cars on the track(which is what it was meant to do, not be a luxo-sports cruiser). that 30K+ is coming from somewhere, and its the interior.

I havent been in the C6's to see how good/bad it is

I sat in a C6 Z06 at the SD Auto Show and I was surprised to see that the dash was carbon fiber, wherein was housed a flat screen sat nav.

With this in mind, I was amazed how everything was still able to feel...tacky and plasticky, despite these materials all being the same as in the interior of the Z4 M Coupe.

That said, the Z06 is a damn fine car, I wouldn't mind the C5 z06 either.

My heart really desires a 1962 Corvette rebuilt inside and out. Oooh man that would pwn.

Pretty sure that's because it's faux CF. The only thing CF about the Z06 is the fenders and hood.

Ah, ok. I had a feeling that was the case, but I know very little about these sorts of materials.

Check this out

That is the M Coupe interior, the pic doesn't do it justice, but is there a way to make a sort of carbon fiber weave that feels like a fabric?

What? The CTS-V rapes any other car in it's price range.
