Like I said in the other thread, the taste is decent but the size is not, too little meat for the cost ($5 just for the sandwich).
 
These fast food chains like to test out new items in certain regions. Sometimes it becomes popular and spreads to all the other locations. But a lot of times the offering becomes area specific since it's only popular there. In Korea, I think I saw a kimchi burger at a McDonalds 😱

Yea, I understand that there are region-specific products (e.g. the McLobster/McHomard, only sold in Quebec) within a single chain.

What I'm wondering is why a single standard menu item (chocolate shake) varies so much from region to region. Even something like a Big Mac is fairly standardized among McDonald's restaurants in different countries.
 
You know, I eat some pretty unhealthy stuff, but that just never looked very good to me. A sandwich without bread is just blasphemous.

Um, that might be because 2 fried chicken breasts costs more to produce than a bun. Meat is more expensive than many other foods.
 
They actually test marketed this sandwich here last year. Oddly enough, I didn't try it until it went national 😛
They also have Spam at McD's in Hawaii, and the McRib is available year round in Germany.

What for? If you want to recall the taste of the McRib, just belch. It's still there and always will be. The McRib was nasty assy.

Those things were such a PITA when I worked at McDonald's. That dude in the picture is a good description of your more mellow McRib fanatics.
 
well it wasn't all that bad compared to some burgers, it was mostly for the lulz of the whole absurdity factor.

and yea mcrib..gross. thats mcmeat. say what you will, the kfc was real chicken. perhaps grown in a lab but real nontheless🙂
 
Why is it absurd? Without a bun its one of the healthier things (sugarwise) you can eat.

Sugar (and the ridiculous amount thats in bread, buns, etc) is one of the main causes of Diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

A double down (grilled version) is damn good for you.

Have you seen the size of it? It's pretty small....also, look at the cholesterol.

Ingested cholesterol is likely not contributory to your serum cholesterol level, as noted in the great egg wars. After all its just bits of fat. Your body makes it by itself.

I'd like a single down, with bacon and cheese stuffed inside a single breast and grilled. Now thats lunch...
 
Splitting hairs here I guess, but the word sugar is commonly associated with simple carbohydrates. Grains contain complex carbs, which (last I knew) were considered to be an important part of a healthy, balanced diet. There's nothing inherently unhealthy about them, they're a source of energy just like fat and protein. If you take in too many calories (whether they come from fat, proteins, or carbohydrates), you won't be able to burn them off and the extra energy will be stored by your body as fat.

that might be a good point if fast food places were using whole grain breads instead of sugar bread.
 
What the heck is "sugar bread"? Bread is bread. They're all made with grains, which contain a lot of complex carbohydrates.

edit: Maybe you're talking about white bread vs wheat. If so, you're right that most fast food places don't offer wheat bread, which is more nutritious. Both are pretty nutritious and are excellent sources of complex carbs, though.

The grilled version is just over 400 calories. I could eat 2 of them for lunch and stay within my calorie limit. I could eat 6 of them over the course of the day and I'd lose weight if I didn't eat anything else. It's practically weight loss food!

Seriously, they took away the worst calories when they took away the bun.
