Lets see when GF actually ships finfets product on 22nm.

Im not talking the node. But the technology.

For example Intel shipped HKMG in 2007 on 45nm. GF in 2011 on 32nm.

Intel ships Trigates in 2012 on 22nm with a 3rd generation HKMG. GF ships....?

I wouldn't really compare process tech like that though. GF could easily say the same thing about SOI and Intel. Intel STILL hasn't come out with a SOI-node

I'd be interested in seeing some comparisons between xtor density and performance between all of the major firm's nodes. I feel like I saw a table of something like that once on here, but I honestly am not even sure which keywords I would use to find it again.

Either way, I think it would be difficult to argue that Intel isn't the clear leader in process tech for a while now. You have to admire the kind of execution they are achieving, which can be pretty difficult in a high-tech industry like this.

Why would Intel use SOI when its worse?

Its only the IBM and GF joke of the foundry business that talks SOI. Intel and TSMC goes bulk. AMD is also looking to change to bulk for APUs and move to TSMC.

GF has repeatedly advertised that they will start making T-Ram available, which should provide them with a ram density approaching that of DRAM. Perhaps we will finally see it in a product before too long?
