GloFiber man just knocked on my door.

No Lifer
Service for the neighborhood is finally installed.
Looks like 100 per month during the promotion, and 110 a month after the promotion.
2Gbit internet and unlimited phone. Exactly what I want.

BUT, I think I will wait for some of my neighbors to switch over and ask them how they like it. I been burned before.

Right now in theory I only have Comcast 600 down for $79 per month and although "2gb1!!1!" down is technically faster, I can count the number of times my internet has gone down for longer then 10-15 minutes on 3 fingers over 5+ years (and one of those was a hurricane!) plus huge Steam-games DL in minutes anyway.

Waiting out the "intro" period for the new fiber-internet company sounds like a good plan.... let somebody else work out the kinks!

Nice!

Reminds me when they were installing fibre in my city I was so excited, and getting to see the progress from inside the CO was pretty cool. Got lucky that I live in an area with areal cable plant otherwise I would not have been able to get it. They never did underground areas since it's too expensive.

I have seen them do a very narrow foot deep trench on the road and lay fiber that way.

We had asked about fiber since there is a government run initiative to get fiber out to rural business, they quoted us at 750,000 to lay fiber when the closest was 6 km's away, plus montlhy charges running into the 1000's a month....When Elon's satellite starts to get to congested shortly i'll have to see how much they want to charge now that they only need to extend it 300 METERS instead of over 6km's

Inflation means it will now cost $1M for 300 meters.

300 megabit for about 50 dollars a month. which is a much better deal that Xfinity.

You should get that. I have had 300/300 with FIOS for a while after overspending on gigabit for a couple years. It's even overkill still, but games do download superfast if you do game. Maybe in a large large household of heavy users you'd want more but not for a 1-3 person household. Better to invest in a higher end wifi setup for full coverage.

I wish we had competition here. I'm paying Comcast (my only choice) $84/month for 100/10, which has increased from $78 two years ago, but speed tests put me at 120/12. It's certainly enough for my needs.

300 is $99, 600 is $110, 900 is $160 (regular no-term agreement prices).
