Class III is the SOT paid in addition to a standard FFL that lets you work with NFA items.

There are NO civilian transferrable Glock 18's for sale.

If you do want to handle an 18, you have to buy a post 86 dealer sample with a demo letter.

I don't think that's actually a Glock 18 - I think it's a 17 with one of those aftermarket select-fire kits (which create a bulge that sticks out of the back of the slide, unlike an actual G18). I don't know that the kits are made anymore - I can't find them with a quick Googling - but they were available to LE a couple of years ago. They seem like a stupid idea to me for anything other than novelty value, but to each his own.

Perhaps I'm not enough of a gun nut to understand...but what does one DO with that sort of weapon? Defend themselves against an entire street gang? Vaporize some ducks?

Well I can certainly understand that concept

My toy preference tends more towards cars and electronics, but I can understand the general idea. I was just wondering if there is some sort of feeble justification for it, the same kind of crap I sometimes come up with to explain why I NEED some really loud speakers, or enough computing power to run the space program.

Probably nothing. Some people who give firearm training discourage ever using the slide release, since it is a fine-motor motion and can theoretically be hard to do under pressure. They tell you to pull back on the slide itself, then release it, as this guy does. Personally I prefer just using the slide release, but to each his own.

AFAIK they still make them, they are marketed under the Fire Selector System, or FSS. Works on any Glock, and is that protrusion on the back of the slide.
