The story might be a bit different, but if the topic of the title isn't a repost, i don't know what is.

As far as i'm concerned, the UN can hold out both its hands to the US looking for a handout. We'll fill one full of money, the other full of sh!t, and see which one fills up first.

While I hate the UN as much as anyone (well not quite that much, but a goodly amount) I've read a theory--and I agree with this one--that the UN isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

The UN will probably have to let more countries into the security council and perhaps some more members with veto power, and getting these countries to agree on anything is unlikely.

Also, as long as the US is paying 25% of the UN budget, they can all shut the hell up. I didn't enter into no social contract globally; I did locally and that's why the government can tax the pants off me.

Funny how the US donates over 80% of the UN's budget to them and yet we don't have any more influence than some country that gives 2 quarters. I'm not saying that we should run the thing, but the dues should be more evenly spaced. Until that happens, I don't support a thing that the UN does or says. They are hypocrites. Where were they when the twin towers were bombed? NO WHERE! A week after they start helping the taliban by dropping them food and such. That is ALL THEY DID! I thought the UN was supposed to help us kick the snot out of the taliban, but noooooooooooo. We gotta rely on volunteers from other nations which was independant of the UN. Shame...

The UN is a joke and a sham. I really started to hate the origanization when some of the worst human rights violators in the world became heads of the UN Human Rights council. At that point the UN lost all credibility. This global tax is a joke. If it ever did come to pass, I would wipe my ass with the tax form and mail it to them.
