Global Win Or Taisol?

I need a hsf for my Duron 600 and narrowed it down to the Global Win FOP32 or TaiSol CEK733092. Not much price difference after shipping. I've read good things about TaiSol but the fan is much smaller. Has anyone tried both?

I am currently running the Taisol 092. I have come to the conclusion that Taisol iis the company maanufacturing the OEM hsf assby's for the AMD socket A processors. The 092 is basically the HSF that they ship with the 1 gig chips:therefore it works well on the Durons, and the T-Bird's that are under a gig. I have had mine running for about 2 weeks, now- my temps are: idle,87 Fahrenheit, full load:105. ( w/artic silver)
Looking at the FOP 32, and the larger mass of the sink, I have no doubt that it would be a superior HSF for faster, hotter processors, but the Taisol will suffice for your Duron.

taisol and coolermaster both manufacture fans for AMD socket A processors, it just depends which model CPU you purchase
i'd go with the taisol simply because it's not as loud as the GW and the performance is very adequate for overclocking...the globalwin will not help you squeeze out any additional mhz

I have the fan that came with the Duron and can run it at 900mhz. I get temps of 48C idle and the low 50s when working so I'd like a little more cooling to be on the safe side. I can't boot faster than 900mhz anyway so extra speed is out of the question.

I have a Global Win FOP 32-1. As you can see in my sig I have pretty low temps. It doesn't seem to change much if I go to 1G either. My only complaint is that the clip is stupidly hard to get on.

I have a Global -Win fop-38, and that and arctic silver lowered my temp about 13 deg. C. (duron 600 @ 900 now at 34C at moderate load)

I just got my TaiSol today. I could only get my Duron 650 to 950 with mid 50s temps. Now I am running @1100 110 x 10 with temps 44 to 50c. The Duron came with a coolermaster
hsf.

I switched from the fop38 to the taisol. The Global Win has more mass, fins, and 2x cfm but it only translated in a 1c difference at idle and 2-3c at full load. Both work well if you take the time to heat up the thermal pad until it phase changes.

just got my tailsol HS today.

CPU temps have dropped 11 or 12 C!!!

i had the coolmaster with arctic silver. LOAD was 49 or 50 c.
with taisol and arctic silver. LOAD is 38 C.

Can I ask a somewhat unrelated question? There are several little things right next to the chip itself. They must be resistors or capacitors. These components are only 0.2 mm lower than the chip (about 0.01 inch). I wonder if there is a danger of the bottom surface of a heat sink accidentally touching one of these and short it out. Has it happened to anyone who uses thermal paste instead of thermal pad?

Got my FOP-32 in. I heard a lot of goo things about Tai Sol but the smaller fan kept bugging me. The hsf that came with the Duron wasn't all that but I wanted a bigger bang for the buck.

My Duron 600 is now 38C @ 900mhz idle and 41C under load
Before I had 48C and 52C. Not too bad but wonder what the TaiSOl would have done. I friend in town with an Alpha ....

That is the key to effective cooling with the TIM. (letting it bake until phase change occurs first)

Upon installation, I unplugged all my case fans and CPU fan and let the TIM on my TaiSol &quot;bake&quot; to 57C. I kept a close eye on the VIA Hardware monitor. I then immediately attached all fans and shut down the computer.

The result is idle temps at 1.2Ghz (1Ghz oc'd to 1.2) at 25C and full loads (Prime95, Seti@home, 3DMark 2000 loops) at 37-39C, occasionally hitting low 40's.

What is the thermal pad? Is it that thing on the bottom of the hsf where you peel off the tape or something else. Can I still heat it up now that I have used the hsf?

If I got TaiSol, do I still need Arctic Silver Thermal Compound? If so, where do I apply it to? Is it permanent so once applied, I cannot remove the heatsink/fan from CPU???
