Do you believe in it? Is it a valid theory? Is it a not a theory, but a fact?

What are your opinion?

I have noticed that it seems like the seasons are switching places... like spring is becoming summer, summer becoming fall, fall becoming winter, and winter becoming spring. Thats just my opinion, of course, I could be wrong.

Be worried, be very worried (CNN)

This news is very political, since W doesn't believe in climate change before the End Times.

I would say valid theory (since in science, theory is pretty much an accepted fact (until someone proves it wrong)). Plus, look at graphs of global temperatures for the past few hundred years. The avg. global temperature starts to spike upwards as the industrial revolution is getting under way. Plus, I believe the call it "Global Climate Change" now because some areas will get significantly colder while other areas will beging to experience desertification and increase in local temperatures. But even if it wasn't real, what good does it do to us to spew tons of carbon dioxide/monoxide, ozone, and sulfuric acid into the air.

The Earth's climate has been warming and cooling for millions of years. That we are now technologically advanced enough to notice it makes no difference.

while am am concerned about climate change, I really think that the subject is becoming the next Y2K bug for the media to scare us with

of course its valid, there have been countries that have experience a way higher cancer rate, due to the higher concentration of radiation penetrating the earth. and the obvious one where all the ice is melting, teh day after tommorow here we go..

..but what if you want to establish a punitive emissions credit racket and pretend humans are to blame for cyclic changes in weather??

That sounds like something someone who is in denial would say.

I sincerely hope you're right but I doubt that you are. Oh, and you can't prove that this trend is going to reverse itself and that we aren't doing any harm to the environment by completely ignoring it (which seems to be Bush's policy when it comes to environmental issues).

Then the current hysteria and news media are tailor made for you to profit tremendously.

Global warming is a fact. The exact mechanisms, and amount of human interference, isn't at all clear.

the first is sentence is true however to deny that mankinds emissions do not have a negative affect on our atmosphere is ignorant.

No, to make any claim either way is ignorant.

Enjoy the rise of the seas and loss of a ton of shoreline.

But there is "no global warming"

But, that "negative affect" might be tantamount to a pimple on an elephant's ass.

The fact is that the world is slightly warmer than is was since we began measuring. That in itself doesn't mean that global warming is a fact. The earth has gone through constant cycles of warming and cooling for billions of years. We've been measuring it for what amounts to a nanosecond when you're talking about geologic time. Even the most rabid environmentalists have failed to demonstrate that the fact that global temps are up a degree of two over a couple of hundred years is anything other than the continuing natural cycle. The "global warming" hysteria is that WE as somehow causing and contributing to the cycle, but so far nobody has come up with a single shred of evidence to back that up. The earth is the earth, it doesn't even notice that we're here. The earth gets warmer, the earth gets cooler, the earth gets warmer, the earth gets cooler, ad infinitum.

its all a cycle. like the seasons, ice ages, pole reversals, hurricanes, on and on and on. i wont rule out man having an impact, but i seriously doubt its on a large scale, if at all....yet.

im more worried about gliese 710 passing through the ort cloud in 1.65mil years and stirring up comets wiping, us out.

I think I would believe the concept more if it weren't for the former hippies/anti-capitalist/communists who are pushing the agenda.

Edit: Global Warning or not, Americans could do a lot more to conserve limited resources. We could use a national recycling system. Oil independence would be great for many reasons. We could use more natural resources to power our homes, such as solar power. We are pretty wasteful and disrespectful here.

I believe in it. Almost all winter long in MI it was warm. Some weeks the lowest temp was 33 or 32 degrees. Snow would fall one day then the next it day it was gone. I think we got more rain then snow.

Yes, I think the big problem is the media and other people doing the whole "fear mongering" thing. Like lots of people have said so far, it is all part of the weather cycles and how the Earth works.

Theres 2 working theories, i believe #2

#1 since the industrial revolution we have been polluting the atmosphere to the point where we are causing the atmosphere to warm.

#2 the earth is in a natural warming cycle and its a lot like the spazzing "we're all gonna die" science behind the ozone in the 80s and 90s.
