This sucks, it's past 11PM, and it's still 79F outside? WTF nature. It's supposed to get cooler at night.

At least, we're not Portland, OR.

Edit: Referencing the heat waves in Portland, nothing political.

Edit: Meant to be a thread where we all commiserate about hot weather, not meant to be a political thread about global warming.

S.C., we've had really mild winters/summers for the last 3 plus years. Might have hit 25 twice during the winters and the same for 100 during the summers. Granted, if I had an outside job or the hvac died, I'd be whining. And the rain has been consistent so not running the sprinkler.
 
This is prety normal for August in the mid-atlantic. I remember many hot September months too. Relief finally comes in October.
 
It starts getting cooler overnight in coastal CT after Labor day but I never take my AC unit out of the bedroom window till mid-late October.

At the moment the job entails removing 2 screws and about 6 feet of Gorilla-tape then setting it on the floor by the window where it will spent the winter.

The job CAN take as much as 5 minutes if you move slowly... rough I know!

Not being mired irrevocably in a sedentary lifestyle I find small physical tasks around the house to be well within the bounds of BOTH sanity and reason. (also note as I live alone I'm only doing them for myself not due to "Honey-do" season arriving!)

Are you saying it would be better to hire "random manual-laborer" & then bring him INSIDE (where I AM?!?) my apartment to do it for me?!?

Now THAT IS crazy !!! 😳 😉


*(also I would feel like a freaking total wuss if my 8000 btu window AC suddenly seemed "heavy" to me lol... all kidding aside then I WOULD be old and frail!)

Dallas seems to be having a fairly mild summer compared to previous summers...just a pure observation on my part though...have only had a handful of 100 degrees days so far which doesn't seem normal...

Also so many random days with highs in the 80s. It has been pretty brutal the last couple weeks though.

I'm saying you must be north of the Mason Dixon. No one around here would be removing the AC this time of year.

Wow that's crazy. Meanwhile 8 hours north overhere the leaves are starting to fall and Canada Geese are heading south. It's barely shorts weather anymore. 15C now but it's raining, so it's a cold 15.

Ah, nice sea breeze at night. Very nice. My house, close to $400K now, would probably only buy me a four season cottage on the coast. If I could even find one for sale.
 
Yesterday and today were pretty warm. It cooled in the evening but remained overly warm in my upstairs bedroom (Berkeley, CA). Normally after dark I would have turned on the pair of 200mm computer fans I have installed in my raised bedroom window using a switch on my bed stand but I didn't because of the wildfire smoke coming from Tahoe and other fires. AQI was high enough where I figured it wasn't smart to draw that air into the house.

Last time air quality was really bad around here I was thinking how nice it would be to have some serious air-filters and maybe a supplemental oxygen line into my apartment. (pretty soon we'll be needing life-support!)

Been a weird year. January was above normal, February was well below for a week or so, but finished above. Other months floundered, July and August have been below until just the last few days.

Our last 100 degree day was in June of '16.

Tuesday we get the fringes of Ida ... they're calling for 70s and 100% humidity plus 4-6" of rain.

On the notion of warm Septembers into October ...... have you noticed the seasons shifting? Summer extends into September while winter drags on into March?
