Of them all, "Threads" was by far the most devastating to watch for its realism.

What about The Road? Nobody knows what the fuck that movie was about, it might as well be Nuclear War.

Well, awesome. I gave it a look see.

But though it is great there is a film with truly unbiased, straight down the middle neutrals with no agendas or allegiances to any party, it's message ends up being a tad liberal. That film seems to suggest that if Obama gets four more years he'll merely lead America to financial ruin when, in fact he will lead us to total thermonuclear annihilation.

If you're looking for something along the lines of The Day After, check out Threads.

This movie makes The Day After look like a walk in the park. I think you can actually watch it on youtube. Although not as good as either, Testament is another one from that time period. There was also another one that was portrayed as a Special News Broadcast regarding a nuclear hostage situation that, I think, took place on a port or shipping dock. It was okay, and I liked that it made it seem like a real news report. You had to live in the era of The Cold War to really get the fear and emotional impact of these movies.

Goodness

and so few posts too.

I have mixed emotions on this movie.

I was 14 and busy with a girlfriend late one night on the couch.

It was my own Global Thermonuclear War going on at the time :hmm:

the doomsday device didn't work, which is why the russian was taking pictures of the inside of the command bunker

Did you watch the same movie as me?

As far as the thread goes, I seem to remember a nuclear war movie with James Earl Jones on a plane. I only saw a bit of it, but the plane was taking evasive action and seemed to be dodging danger at every turn. It was almost enough to hair-lip everyone on Bear Creek.

I started a thread here about that movie after I watched it. From people who read the book, it is purposely left ambiguous, but it could have also been something along the lines of a mega volcanic eruption or similar.
