Today is the day we can get away with anything. Get drunk and piss on a policeman's leg. Tell him that's how you pray, and you were merely offering a blessing upon him. He can't do shit if it's the National day of prayer.

And hey, if you religious guys are going to try and institute a National day of prayer, does that mean you'll shut the fuck up about prayer for the other 364.25 days of the year? I'm sick of people telling me to offer up prayers for Terri Schiavo or the soldiers or Britney Spears or whatever. I'll give you one day. You give me my year.

Do you really think that those zealots would let you NOT hear about how you need to "pray to be saved" for 364.25 days? How about we take small steps here, and we will ask for a day at a time. It would be a start....

Although I do like this idea... I may have to tell the next person talking about prayer to me that A) "I pray for religion to go away" or B) "Im glad you pray and all, but leave me alone for the next 364.25 days about it. K thx bai"

As a side note... When is National I don't pray day?

I pray a sense of urgency swipes over this forum with the love of Jesus Christ that will bring lasting transformation throughout this entire community. And more importantly from the verse below, I pray that you hear that voice, open the door and let Jesus into your life!
AMEN!

Hallelujah! That sense of urgency DID swipe over me. But I went to the bathroom and now I'm ok again. Thanks for thinking of me though.

How appropriate; the National day of prayer is May day... Chances are, if you ever find yourself screaming mayday, you're praying your ass off (which, as a completely irrelevant tangent, sounds like an excellent diet plan).

No no, not on chocolate cheesecake... you need it drizzled with white chocolate, and some whipped cream.

I pray the heathens recognize that cheesecake is cake not pie.

Am I allowed to pray to my god, the fuzzy pink bunny? It's fun to pet, but the teeth are like razorblades.

Why would you need a special day to send special telepathic messages to a sky-fairy that you're allowed to send special telepathic messages to any time of the week?

Sounds like wanker-ism, to me.

How unexpected - a strongly evangelical post turning into YA religion bashing thread!

You guys, cut him some slack. One thing that all people should realize is that when somebody makes an attempt to convert them it is because that person cares about them and wants to share something they've experienced as good.

If you've ever complained about Christians damning someone to hell, you can't complain about people trying to convert you - it is their sincere attempt to keep you from what they view as a natural law of consequence. They don't wish you damned; the exact opposite.

tealk, when you say that you want transformation, also say transformation from what into what. When you talk about the love of Jesus Christ, explain what that means to you. When you invite people to let Jesus in their lives, spell out what you perceive that to do. Without that, people have no understanding of your motivation to pray for them and they do not know what you hope to accomplish beyond their stereotyped "win converts" perception.
