I hate Beck and think he's about 2 drinks away from offing himself on live TV. At least Rush does it as a joke/entertainment ie believes nothing he says.

Things are never as bad as you think, especially what beck thinks. Mainly because humans can change course in an instant and make world way we wish.

There's a certain type of lack of character where some people think it's ok to use others.

They think it's ok to deceive them - that they're 'marks'.

It might be 'fortune tellers' or religious scammers or demagogues like Beck. To them, the fact that people give them money proves what they're doing is 'ok'.

They're usually quite impressed with their own ability to sing a pied piper's song, and might start to believe their own press. But they just cause harm pretty much, abusing freedoms that were given for legitimate purposes. Beck seems to feel he's simply in the 'speaking business' and what matters isn't how his speech harms, but if it sells.

Free speech may help bad ideas get beat, but it's no guarantee.

He isn't even more than a clown at it, with his corrupt gold selling connections even Fox had to tell him to knock off finally. He does a lot of harm.

They serve a valuable purpose: They hold up mirrors on the 'issues of the day' so we can see ourselves reflected in them and have an opportunity to understand/recognize the coutry's institutionalized stupidity for what it is. A highly valuable secondary effect is to flush out of hiding those with opposing views who are, nevertheless, even dumber than the first set.

By this means, people of common sense can locate, identify, and hopefully neutralize idiots of all Creeds, Parties, and Outlooks.

...and yes, I realize that doesn't actually answer the question.

I find it rather amusing that America has no defense against fascist psychopaths, that if they can sell products they can poison the minds of fools. I think that after fifty million dead the Germans wouldn't allow him a platform from which to speak. Since we are supposed to own the air waves Fox and every other network dealing in opinion should be forced to have an opposing view point on at the same time any extreme is presented. These assholes are really hypnotists and they are dangerous to the country. His broadcasts should be constantly interrupted by fact check from other parties and accompanied by warning labels that what you hear is being presented to infect your mind with lies.

I thought the Beck drinking game was based on how many times he brought up Hitler or Nazis.

I really can't stand the guy so I don't listen to him.

The question was of policy, not whether you hate Beck.

Do you agree with Glenn Beck's political views?

I'm guessing no one actually read that.

Really? Where in the OP:

"Just wanted to know what AT thinks of Glenn Beck and his views."

with the answer, I hate him, is a poster not responding to the question?

Isn't it pretty obvious that what that person thinks is that Glen Beck and his point of view are contemptible. Jesus, are you not the one who can't read?

By the way the thread title, "like him hate him?"

I don't really know what his views are. Does anyone? He's a character, and it's Fox's story.

He doesn't have views, he just says what Fox viewing morons will eat up so he can enjoy the cash it brings him.

His policy is to instill needless and warrant-less fear, he's made his fortune on the politics of fear, appealing to primal survival instincts and taking advantage of that.

I listen to him for about 10 minutes on my way to work.

I've heard some things I like and some things I don't.

It's all politics, as usual. Anyone who says they don't like him for his character or the way he operates really means they don't like him because he leans right.

My Fundie sister can recite what he says verbatim. She's fallen for his BS hook, line and sinker.

A great many people are unquestioning followers who cannot put aside their bias even in clearly defined circumstances. They choose to evade what is with what they think must be.

All to common.

I typically lean conservative on most issues and can't stand listening to this guy. Didn't vote in the poll because I really don't know what his political views are except that he hates Obama and everything he stands for. He's the antithesis of Harvey...except Beck has a microphone.
