Hold them with mouths down, tap up against the rim of the mug sharply with a wooden spoon or similar sized block of wood. Be ready to catch the glass as it drops free.

put the outer cup into a pot of hot water, put some ice cubes into the smaller inner cup. start pulling...

Drill a hole through the bottom of the coffee cup to release the air pocket

Tell your mom it was like that when you found it.

They are mating. Leave them be.

If you're lucky you'll have little cups and saucers running around.

nitemare: the base of the glass is hexagonal so theres no problem with an air pocket if youre wondering.

also, the glass budges sharply between two positions now, if i apply a pretty considerable force, so... i'll continue waiting it out.

how exciting

The bottom of the glass is hexagonal or circular?

bottom is hexagonal. i can pour water into the mug and it will go underneath the glass. not that i did, because i'm listening to happypuppy and toastedlightly and letting it dry.

all this talk makes me thirsty i'm gonna get a drink

Hold sideways, tap on ccunter.

where can i find a ccunter??

and should the OP hold the ccunter sideways while tapping it (the ccunter)

if the bottom isn't round, it's not being held in there by a vacuume or waterseal

put just enough water in the mug to touch the bottom of the glass
put the whole concoction in the freezer

tried the microwave after it still stuck after sitting for a few hours. it actually only budged twice and will budge no more.

troytime's suggestion sounds interesting though... the freezer one, that is

My God, how hard is it to figure out? fill the mug waith water and toss it in the freezer. when the water freezes it will push out the glass. It will probably scratch the inside of the mug in 8 spots though.

Rapid change in temperature will possibly shatter the glass
