Im sure you are familiar with the whole thing about optimists and pessimists and the glass half empty or full depending on their point of view. I say the whole thing was stupid to begin with.

If you see someone pouring a liquid into a glass....guess what...its half full. Otherwise its ALWAYS half empty either because someone is drinking it or its simply evaporating. It has nothing to do with a point of view! :|

Anytime I hear someone bring this up I feel like beating them about the head for several minutes.

You sound like a glass is half empty kind of person.

This would never be a problem if everybody just filled up their fucking glass in the first place.

You can fill a glass up, let it evaporate, and then say that it is "still half full." So the OP is incorrect - either can be used to describe the situation.

I believe this metaphor is the reason whino's are considered neither optimistic nor pessimistic.

Only if you see someone moving it one direction or the other. Windows dont open and close by themselves.

Not so. Evaporation empties the cup, no matter how minute. So it would be "almost" half full and becomming less so by the moment.

So if someone opens it half way, then walks away, it's not half open?
