Leonardo DiCaprio's Alexander the Great movie, Vin Diesel's biopic of Hannibal, and Brad Pitt's Trojan War drama.

:Q Those sound awesome! :Q

I do agree though, that a sequel to Gladiator is not needed and will definitely blow without Russel Crowe.

Let's not forget Gwyneth Paltrow as "Helen of Troy" (no wait...I just dreamt that.)

ugh. if casablanca had come out 60 years later, we would be seeing ads for "cas 2: renault's revenge" right about now

edit: casablanca came out in 1942, i thought it was later. if it had come out in 1992, they would have done the whole trilogy by now. and the originial "ugh" was just to suggest my displeasure with hollywood making a sequel in general, not a sequel to a great movie. i didn't think gladiator was that great.

I usually have no problem with a sequel to a movie, especially action movies, which are fluff anyway so its not that big of a deal. But a sequel to gladiator? You have to be kidding me!

I'm alot more interested in this :D!

The final battle sequence, however, is where David Self earns his pay. The Battle of Thermopylae lasts about forty pages and is every bit as stunning and brutal as the opening of Gladiator but is nearly three times longer. This may seem excessive to some but there's no doubt that those filmgoers who salivated throughout Gladiator will be enraptured by this film's last act. The sheer magnitude of this sequence will likely make Gates one of the most expensive films ever made. I can't imagine the dizzying logistics of filming these scenes, including one protracted and gut-wrenching battle between about a thousand men on a sloping cliff. Michael Mann has crafted mesmerizing action sequences in both Heat and Last of the Mohicans so I can't wait to see what he'll do here.

Fvck (roman spelling ;) ) They are gonna ruin a great movie. Although I can't think of any worse sequel than maybe Blues Brothers 2000. They desecrated a classic with that one. Speed 2 is up there as well.

UGHHH

My favorite movie ever and now they need to put this out?? Obviously it would be without Crowe because Maximus is killed, what possibly could be the storyline? Lucious becomes a Gladiator now too? Grrrrr... maybe I won't even see it. Sort of like how i love the original Slapshot, but I refuse to watch the Slapshot 2 movie they put out. Dunno.

Gwyneth Paltrow as one of the most beautiful women in the world?!? If that's so, the human race is doomed.

Gwyneth wouldnt be able to launch one dingy let alone 1000 ships. :p

Sounds like she launches uncJIGGA's dingy :Q

Charlize Theron would be a better feel for Helen of Troy though

SWEET! I just got done reading Gates of Fire. AWESOME book. If they can pull off an even halfway decent screen translation it should be as good as Gladiator. I'm definately waiting for this one too...
