donuts,

Friendly, but I wouldnt be too worried about it if everything is working as it should. Heck, buy.com doesnt even open the box, so the bag must have been that way from elsa themselves.

my $.02

F I N A L L Y !!!!

I called Buy.com talked to a CSR who I must say was one of the better ones I've ever dealt with. She had to put me on hold only to check with the warehouse and a supervisor, but she confirmed that they did get the cards in (Dallas) and that she didn't know why mine wasn't shipped yet.
She upgraded me to second day instead of UPS snailand made sure it was dispatched to me.

So buy Tuesday I'll be rockin!!!

Received my card today, and will install it over the weekend to take the place of my cheap but venerable 3DFX Velocity-100 8-megger I got for 44 bucks many moons ago. The Velocity 100 was and is good enough for me to keep beating people at the now-ancient Quake2 multiplayer, but alas, it's time for the pasture has come. :(

Ordered my card on December 25th, by the way, and am in NYC.

Heck yeah! Got it today! (and it's new ;) )

I'm in the same boat as you darkfudge, I'm replacing a TNT2-U as well. Can't wait to see the difference!

OT from this thread but since I'm the original poster I hope you'll give me a little slack.

DarkFudge2000 - I appreciate your "apology" to Dartek et al., although the tone somehow sounded like you felt forced to give it. In any case, I think that you should feel some obligation to email sites like Reseller Ratings about the situation, expressing your new found conscience on the matter. In part because of your posts, they now have 80+ negative reviews that they don't deserve. Do the right thing and try to correct this.

I would have done this in email or PM but you have disabled these in your profile.

Please resume your normal posting. ;)

/edit
If you want to respond, use my email or PM so we don't clutter up this thread. Thanks.

I ordered mine after they had become out-of-stock. I got it yesterday here in L.A.

I installed the latest Elsa Gladiac drivers from the ELSA website and everything was working fine. Then I updated to the nVidia drivers that I found on the ELSA website. That caused W2K to lock-up on boot-up. I went back to the Elsa Gladiac drivers. Not sure if I'll try the nVidia one's again because its a hassle fixing software crashes.

Ordered my card on Dec 28th, and received it today. The static bag had two seal stickers on it also, one old, and one new. I gave the card a complete and thorough lookover, and if its refurbished in any way, shape, or form I cant tell. There was no scratches on the gold fingers like it had ever been installed, no obvious re-working of soldered joints or chips, and no scratches on the VGA plug where the monitor plugs in. This is not to say that its not a refurbished card, but I figure:

1) With all the orders for the cards lately, maybe Elsa was just re-using static bags.
2) Even if it is refurbished, it still has a six year factory warranty.
3) Its illegal to sell refurbished merchandise as new.

I figure number 1 is possible because of number 3, but draw your own conclusions.

P.S. Installed the card a couple hours ago, and everything seems to be working fine so far, using Win98SE, 6.31 and DX8.

I bought an Elsa Erazor III TNT2 card from outpost.com about a year and a half ago and I had a similar situation. The box was shrinkwrapped and sealed but the static bag had 2 stickers (one used, one not). Also in the box was a manual for a totally different card as well as the correct one. Weird. Maybe Elsa is doing it from their warehouse.

Guys...I love the new cards power now but my question is....in 3d mode the refresh rate appears to be 60hz and it seems more obvious now than it did on my old TNT2 card....Is there a way to bump up the refresh rate when in 3d mode?....everything appears a bit glassy or slightly flickery. Not as rock solid a display as in 2d

Can it even be adjusted??

As to the fellow who mentioned that my Dartek Apology seemed forced....NO it wasn't at all...They just made me an offer I couldn't refuse. And as far as the reseller ratings, I am one step ahead of you on this.....They were notified before I even apologized here.....Thanks

Glad to hear it DarkFudge.

To adjust the refresh rate go into Display Properties - Settings - Advanced - Adapter and you should be able t adjust the refresh rate. This can make a big difference in 3D if you've got vsync enabled.

What offer did they make that you couldn't refuse? Just wondering, because they haven't offered me anything and I was one of the first to order the card.

Also, with Staples pricematch and their $40 off coupon you can get the Elsa for somewhere around $135 with shipping, there is another thread about what to pricematch and everything. Just thought I'd let you all know.

Well...ordered the card on the 27th, they shipped on 3rd and I got it on the 5th...That really wasn't all that bad! Waited a week for the card, then got it in a day and a half...the thing totally rocks! Too bad it's bottlenecked by my crappy old PII-300 and PC66 RAM...Next up, new CPU and RAM...

can someone please change the name of the thread? the price has risen so high that it's no longer a hot deal at all, right now it's at $193, -$30 that's still $163, about the same price that every other place online is selling them for.

Maybe I spoke too soon. I checked the website on the stats of my order. The CSR setup a new order on Friday for me. She charged me the full 157$ with no 30$ off.. I called in later that night and spoke to another csr and he noticed that error and gave me another discount. No now I am getting the card on second day air for right around 110 smackerooos.

Thanks, hotwater, for the info on setting the AGP driving value to "DA" in the BIOS. I was having some problems with flickering, but your tip got rid of it. Now it works like a charm!

<< Donuts, I received my Elsa Geforce 2 GTS from Onvia and it also looked like it had been opened. There was another antistatic warning sticker on top of an original one which had been opened previously, you can see the remnants of the glue material on the antistatic bag. Also, there was a round green sticker with some writing on it stuck on the corner of the card itself. I wonder if these were returns that they are reselling? I'm gonna keep a close eye on this card in case there are problems. >>

I got mine through the staples deal and it was the same exact thing you described. I find this kind of odd. Guess I'll put it in tonight and see what happens...
