Giving notice tomorrow... probably not sleeping tonight

Awesome. More jeeebus ms paint for the next month.

And then...MIA, working 80 hrs/wk.🙁

Grats. To date, the best financial and stress reducing decision I've made. Subject to change, of course.

Best of luck, Jeeebus. I'm more than likely putting in my 2 weeks today (assuming the other company accepts my counter offer) after having been with my current company for nearly 5 years. My current role is primarily as an implementation engineer and my new role will be 100% technical pre-sales. Didn't sleep much last night either.

For as much as I thrive on conflict in that my job is to litigate, I'm not looking forward to tomorrow. This is only the 2nd firm I've worked for in 10 years, and I really do like the people I work with/for. No clue how my boss is going to react - I suppose it could be anywhere from gracious/congratulatory to 'pack your shit up and get out.'

I'm opening my own firm (so, going from comfortable salary to guaranteed $0.00) so between that stress and the not looking forward to tomorrow, the good news is I've probably lost a much needed few pounds this past week.

Anyone else making any major career moves? ATOT hug?

Good luck man. I did the "own firm" thing right out of law school. It can be a challenge. I never had to go from having a salary to nothing but I had to practice without know WTF I was doing, so at least you have the experience.

Having your own practice can be very rewarding. I wasn't very successful at it and after 8 years I started working for someone else. I hope everything goes well for you.

What are of law are you practicing in?

I just want I say

😀

Business litigation for the most part. I do a fair bit of bankruptcy litigation as well.

Well just know that if I ever start a business in your state and go bankrupt I will be sure to hire you - with an ATOT discount of course

It would help if my boss showed up today.

Well played, boss man.

he has been spying on you on ATOT for years!

Today hes gonna bust out his dossier on you!

Seriously though good luck!

Make sure to pace yourself as burnout can happen quickly when your working 80 plus hours a week.

You totally have to show us your new signage in MS paint!

You'll be fine. I have to get on some career stuff myself; I've been waiting for a perfect job to come around and well, no job "comes to you". I'm just too lazy to sell myself to companies in the Bay Area.

You know what they say, a lazy and full of hubris coder is the best coder!

Been telling myself to quit after Labor day for the past few months... Now, I think I might ask for a leave of absence to go back to school to properly learn how to do the job I'm in now -- I have a related generic degree. Two year college program, so it'd be 8 months of burning money, but I'd get a guaranteed job for 4 months of the year. It's a god damn full-circle, but I have 5+ years of directly related experience on paper, which is better than most people coming out of school.
