Given the option, would you get a high-end 17" LCD or a medium-range 19"?

What do you guys think?

For the 17, I'm looking at the Hitachi CML174B or the SAMSUNG 172X--both are fairly high-end models, especially the latter...you know, with those low response times and all.
For the 19s, HITACHI CML190SXWB, BenQ FP951, or SAMSUNG 192T. I'm leaning toward the BenQ in this category. They're all 25ms, but I haven't really heard anyone with ghosting problems on these screens.

But yeah, I'm on a 17" (16 viewable) CRT right now, running 1280x1024. So I was thinking that perhaps there's not really a point to getting the 19", because it might just seem a little too big...besides, for the money, I can get a higher quality 17" for about the same or less cost-wise.

Edit: I'm price limited here...about $600 max...$700 is pushing it. This isn't my money--it's my dad's graduation gift to me, so I can't "save up" for something bigger/better.

Edit 2: Those of you with 19" monitors...esp the models I've mentioned here...can you play games at 1024x768 or 800x600? I'm ok at higher resolutions right now (9600pro), but a year or so in the future, I don't want to be unplayable at those resolutions.

I would keep saving up for a high end 19" or 21" like me. BTW there's no such thing as a LCD being a little too big.:p

I would not consider the Samsung 192T "low end".

I would go with a 19" LCD

Ah...I've been comparing against the 2001FP, so maybe that's why?

Also...seems like the 19" monitors I listed don't enjoy low resolutions much. I don't have much $$ for top of the line video cards, so I usually play at 800x600 or 1024x768 to keep frame rates up--this judging from reading the reviews on Tom's Hardware.

Yeah most 19 inches are 25ms, except I think for a Sharp one.
But 25 or 16 are really subjective to the companys marketing department.
Just goto the store move the mouse very very fast and see for yourself
