I never try the GT, even though I know an integra RS can kill it easily. The only reason anyone would want a 6th Gen (the 4 eyes) celica is for the looks (not many ppl dig it looks though) and above-average gas mileage on the ST. beside, the Celica was Very expensive when it first came out and is still kinda expensive consider the competition (integras, eclipse). Also, the 5th gen (flap up headlites) are quite heavy, but it does have the 4WD turbo version

anyway, back FSUpaintball's topic, I think you will be better off with an integra ONLY if the insurance doesn't bother you. otherwise, get a post-96 Civic hatchback or coupe. pre 95 is a tad bit slower.

many ppl steal the integra just to swap the 140hp D18 motor to the civic.

also, gogeeta, the 2.4l engine in the 240sx is a KA24DE, not SR24. and the SR20 never made it to the 240sx, it was only found in Nissan 200sx Sentra SE-R, infiniti G20, and the Pulsar Gti-R.

Yup, andy has pretty much hammered the nail on the head... as for the 240sx's, the hatchback models are only available in 89-92, the coupe (with flipup headlights) are available I believe from 90-94, and then you have the convertible models that existed for a brief period between 93-94. The 95-96 models have a totally new body design, but the KA24DE engine remains the same. 97-98 model has same body frame, but headlights look MEANER.

The 89 and 90's 240 has the single cam engine KA24E while the 91-98s have the KA24DE engines, corresponding to 140hp and 155hp. Not bad for a car that weighs less than 2800 pounds!

I'd do anything to get a 98 240SX SE model with leather interior but unfortunately trying to find that car is like trying to find a 22 year old model girl that's a virgin!

91-93 Senta SE-R or NX2000. 140hp stock and easily well documented bolt-on mods take it to 160hp. Car weighs 2400. Insurance is dirt cheap since it's just classified as a regular Sentra.

hey, you seems to know alot about Nissan 240sx, do you know is the old old Infiniti M30 equal to 240sx coupe/convertible? (at least body wise, I know it uses the same v6 that powers the 300zx, maxima, j30, and others)

Not a flame, but just a question: Why would you want an Integra? Around here, every other car is an Integra. It's not very unique, and IMHO they're ugly. It might be hard to find one in decent condition because most of the ones I've seen on the road were being piloted maniacly by kids. Others (or often the same ones) had modifications to the vehicle that made it look awful. They get stolen A LOT. Insurance is relatively high.

If I were in your position, I would be sure to check Autotrader.com, as well as the website for your local newspaper classifieds. The grocery store also has free periodicals that list cars for sale. You seem to be partial to Hondas, perhaps a Prelude would suit you better than an Integra? More power and better looking IMHO, but I'm not sure how expensive they are for a '95 and they are probably pricy to insure as well.

I used to own a Celica GT (albeit one of the old ones, an '82) and that was a surprisingly fun little car. It was RWD, 5 speed, got 32 MPG, and was dirt cheap to insure. Had 240,000 miles when I sold it. This post is turning into a ramble, I was really just curious what makes the Integra so attractive. (to thieves as well)

the reason why integra is so popular because it is highly modifiable and is already quite powerful stock in its price range, and this does not hold true for any other car (count them, Civic, 240sx, Eclipse, and maybe some more).
Uniqueness is judged by the eye of the beholder, so if you may not like it, many others may. Heck, I personally don't like the 4-eyes integras too and I drive a 4-eyes Celica. and thieves like it coz its engine can be swapped into the lighter civic.

You're right, there ARE a lot of Integras around here. And insurance may be a bit high (I haven't checked on that yet). But it seems to fit my needs perfectly. A great performer for the price, very reliable, good looking (IMO), and fun to drive. Leather, CD, sunroof, speed, all in my price range. How could I go wrong?

As for the Prelude, they are very overpriced down here. People tend to covet them, making it next to impossible to pick up a used one for a reasonable price. I don't really like the way they look, either.

For whoever was asking, I don't mind the 90-94 Nissan 240SX's looks. I just don't like the newer ones. And the older ones have SO many miles on them. I'm not planning on spending more money for a new engine, either.

The Toyota Celica might be right for me. Thanks to everyone who suggested it. I actually like the old AND new style Celicas' looks. Although I think they're overpriced when they're new, I may be able to find a good deal on a used one.

FYI, the last RWD celica is 1984. it has a 2.4L i4 engine. anything after is FWD (except the All Trac Turbo which is as rare as the 240sx Super HICAS) AFAIK, those FWD 1985-89 and 89-93 models are quite heavy (I don't have the numbers) compare to the 2450 lb 94-99 ones. But why get these if you can get the FWD integras which are usually cheaper and alot faster?

if you dig RWD 4-bangers, consider the 83-87 Corolla GTS coupe or hatchback, they are powered by a potent 1.6L engine, it's not too fast at stock, but highly tweakable (you need to find someone who really knows this car though, most import mechanic would have no clue)

Actually, I just found my 97 240sx today... color is gunmetal with a light hint of ocean green. Going to pay $13000! Yikes! You can call me crazy!

My bro has the same exact car w/o leather. Has 160k miles and hes never had a problem with it. Great car, but i hate to say that it doesnt seem as fast as my NON RICE Civic.

Really? I thought the 4-cyl VTEC Accord EX was faster than the 4-cyl VTEC Civic. I think the Civi's engine is 1.6L, and the Accord's is 2.2?

blahblah: 13,000 is a pretty nice deal, I found a black one 6 months at the dealer and it was 14k. but since the owner you described seems to be PERFECT person that you want her to be the pre-owner... I guess 13k isn't so bad of a deal.

DrumminBoy: maybe the Accord is slightly heavier that's why it isn't as fast as a civic, as far as I am concern, the Accord engine has more hp and TORQUE (which kills the civic) and that should be able to offset the weight difference.
