Give me ideas for school design project

I'm taking a design class and we have a small project where our professor asked us to "explore space" (meaning 3D space, not planets and stars!) where we can use any materials we want.

It doesn't have to be abstract art (but can be but I'm looking for some ideas and inspiration for a small project that I can complete by Friday and cost under $20 🙂

Just bring in a bottle or a clear plastic box or something and go, "Look! I captured space in a box!"

can you give me some more of what you are thinking...
that '3d space' is pretty broad.
what i would do is use all "natural" things found outside.
but i guess i need more to go on.

i have a really cool idea i am thinking, but its more on the level of abstract kind of.

Haha I'd like a passing grade 🙂
And it shouldn't be something that's pre-modeled like a model car or plane.

Maybe I should add that it's a Theater/Film design class, mostly Theater, but not that our projects have to be huge for stage or even something that would go into a production.

I had thought about making a guillotine but knowing me I would cut myself.

That's the point my professor says :rolls eyes: basically so we can do anything we want.
Size dimensions maybe no more than 1 to 2 sq ft.

ok ok. i gotcha.
what i would do is get many natural products and make them into body parts (hands, feet, ears, eyes reaching out of a ragged old box. crumple up newspaper and use wire to sculpt it into a hand, find stuff outside like leaves and twigs and use those too.
i don't know what i am trying to get at except to say that we all come from the earth, no matter where from, its all the same when it comes down to it. using the different materials signifies that everyone is trying to reach as far as they can to get to the highest place no matter who they are or what they are "made of"...
(thats if you want it to have meaning.)

I would do that and try to make it as high as he allows. (2ft or whatever.)

Make a small sphere, inside a medium size triangular piryamid, inside of a large octohedron.

get 10 feet of fence or so, put it in a circle.
On the inside of the circle, paint a sign that says "I declare this to be the outside of the circle. I have successfully fenced in 99.999% of the earth.

I think I've decided on making a lamp shade (or something that resembles one) using only paper clips. The shade will be able to hang from a single paper clip at the top of the shade then stem down sort of like where the pole is under a circus tent. The ultimate goal will be to hang a light bulb inside of it, with probably triple points if the light bulb can light up 🙂
