look here first

i have a normal SLR with about 8 different lenses (telephoto, macro, wide angle etc) and an ok 4 megapixel camera. After seeming those pics above, i think i NEED to get a dSLR. I think i can get about 200 bucks for my cam (olympus 400something) and im pretty sure i have the money to afford that camera.

someone give me a reason no to buy it...

Will your lenses fit?
I'm not getting a Rebel because my Pentax K-Mount lenses wouldn't fit on it. So I'm saving for the *ist-d :)

I love mine. I have a bunch of pics from Hawaii in my gallery that I took with a Digital Rebel. None were retouched or editted in any way other than severely compressing them. The ones that i have adjusted in Photoshop are simply amazing.

Lmao, owned.

Anyways, great camera. I don't see any reason to hold back.

The only complaint I have about mine is that the plastic body looks and feels like a $200 camera. Image quality is beautiful, the automatic settings are accurate and useful, AF is fast and quiet with almost no shutter lag at all. The kit lens is really pretty good and well worth getting.

Honestly, I don't think you'll miss your film SLR one bit.

As long as they are the Canon EF lenses, they will work. The D-Rebel is an AF camera, so if the lenses are AF, you will be able to let the camera do the work.

Be wary of buying cheap lenses for it as well. Some older Sigma lenses had some major issues working with it unless their software is reflashed.

Don't they cost like $1000? At least the 6MP one I was looking at did. That is certainly a reason for me :)

I know 3 people who make extra income through photography even though their full time profession has nothing to do with cameras.

I'm pretty sure he was saying that a professional photographer probably hasn't any need to ask a group of almost entirely non-professional photographers what camera he should buy.
