Give me a break, Fat activists protest diet industry

That's the last people I take advice from. I've seen fat personal trainers at the gym before and I just have to laugh. It's ridiculous really.

'Fat Liberation' Movement. So, now these people are promoting the view that's it's acceptable to be proud to be fat. I don't want society to think this. Think about how many obese people will give up on losing their extra pounds becuase of the new movement. Jeeze.

That's krazy hazy , smelly nelly and not okey dokee smokey if you ask me !

The truth is out everyone, it's just fine to be a gluton!

Blah....., I used to weigh 350 due to being so poor growing up, I REALLY ate like sh*t and ate more becuase I felt like sh*t all the time. I kinna exploded when puberty hit then shrank down at 17 in less than a year.

I'm older and have a good job now and can afford to feed myself the right way. I've been around 190 for quite some time now. I can say that there's no excuse for being insanely overweight outside of a serious self control problem, no access to healthy food or just being plain lazy/careless with health.

If people don't want to accept the fact that they have a problem that's fine, it's completely absurd to expect others to accept it as and "ok" thing though.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Unashamed of their size, fed up with fat jokes, and angry at the national obsession with dieting, overweight activists are mounting a feisty protest movement against what it calls the medical establishment's campaign against obesity.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. Then when you need that quadruple bypass don't come crying to the hospital to fix you.

It is not acceptable to be proud of being fat, imho. Morbid obesity should never be something to be proud of. These people are just trying to rationalize their laziness and poor eating habits.

I hear ya..
But it kinda sorta leads to that rationale if you think about it. First they believe it's ok to be fat, then they have to justify it somehow.. i dunno! People sometimes want to belong to a group and be blind sheep.

Also, we should stop discriminating people with unshaven faces, unkemp hair, and nauseous body odors. I can't help that there is hair on my face, my hair gets tangled up, and that my armpits smell. That's the way nature made me. I've tried to change by shaving, combing my hair, and bathing, but it's no use. When I wake up the next morning, my face is hairy, my hair is a mess, and my armpits smell. It's not fair... my friend has no facial hair, his hair is always orderly, and he emits no body odor without any real effort!

I believe that weight, like the items above, can be managed through effort and force of habit. Some will have an easier time than others. Weight loss just takes a lot more effort and consistency than shaving, combing hair, and bathing.

Btw, I would be ok with this movement if it was an all-male movement. That just means more honey for me.

"It's gotten markedly worse in the last few years because of the propaganda that fatness, a natural human characteristic, is somehow a form of disease."

Wow, so then its your fault that you're so fat you need two plane seats and people don't want to sit next to you because you'll spill your diet coke and 5 lb tub of bon bons all over them. At least when it was glandular, you couldn't help it, but now you're just a slob.

YES ANOTHER FAT THREAD!!!!!

Best thing is when all of you kids lose your wonderful metabolism.

LOL @ AD

Wann depicts bariatric surgery as "stomach amputation" that imposes anorexia on patients and exposes them to long-term risks. Kelly Bliss, a self-described "full-figured fitness instructor" from Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, predicts that future generations will disapprovingly look back on stomach surgery as "comparable to lobotomies."

That's BS. People choose to have that kind of surgery and many will have serious medical problems if they don't.

Nah.

If your 80-100lbs+ overweight (fat) that is going to be a serious problem sometime. Your body isn't suppose to have an extra 80lbs of fat doing nothing...

I love the opening statement, her condeming fatness as a disease. It was only a disease recently, and at the insistence of the overweight community. Before that it was "You're too fvcking lazy to live right."

I kind of agree about the stomach surgery bit, it's way out of hand. It's an extremely radical procedure preformed as though it were a simple, cosmetic fix.

However, I can't agree with the rest of the article. Serious weight gain is a problem, and it is getting worse. And fat is just nasty.
