Everyone talks of treating those with disabilities, the same as those of us lucky enough to be born without disabilities. So why do people get their asshairs into an uproar over a COMEDY sketch about an admitted adulterer and ex-cocaine user? His disability aside...he would be made fun of like anyone else in this world who was in the public eye and had admitted these things. His disability is just one part of what makes him who he is in this life...why not make fun of it?

In todays hyper-PC media society, nobody can take a joke nowadays. It is true that you shouldn't joke out of meanness, but if you aren't offending at least somebody, then you are doing it wrong. Same as always, comedy serves as a way to tell the truth when nobody else can anymore...
 
I thought it was mean, because they specifically made fun of his blindness for large chunk of that segment. I don't think they should get a free pass. It's simply lame to be mocking someone for his disability, in real life or on TV. It was also not very funny and self centered, because most people don't really care about NY state politics either.

 
I wish they would just go ahead and recognize humor deficiency as a medical condition so we can get these people the help they deserve. 🙁
 
I don't care much for the NY gov either, but so called "comedy" like this tells you
alot about our society.......things that people do or say or that happen to them
might be funny but to make fun of a person's blindness it a little over the top
in my opinion.
 
It was hilarious. The Dude is a Politician, politicians get carcatured all the time and any little aspect of them from Speech to Physical Appearance is standard. He needs to get a grip.

The guy's a politician. And you know they have a reputation for robbing you blind ;-).

Since politicians use anything and everything to humiliate the common man, the favor should be returned.
 
Anyone remember SNL making fun of Pres. Ford when he tripped and fell down??
That became a running gag about him for a long time. They ignored the fact that Ford had been a star athlete and his tripping was NOT a sign of him being accident prone.

BTW was any of it funny? I don't imagine many people would laugh at jokes making fun of a blind person.

It appears that the majority of the posters on this thread find a lot of humor with a guy being blind.

The same people would probably find a lot of humor with a person who was born with a speech defect
or perhaps some other birth defect.

I just consider the source when I read most posts here....

If you're not walking the line then you might as well take your act to the Catskills.
Bleeding edge comedy is supposed to be raw which is what they portend to be

Yeah, that is one of the funniest ever.

I guess I didn't see it as making fun of the blind--I saw it as take off on his whole persona. Whenever SNL does a sketch involving politics it is always spot on. C'mon, the Bush/Gore sketch where they agree on everything and then run together. The Clinton in Mikkie D's sketch. Even them ripping apart Monica Lewinsky and whoever John Goodman(her name eludes me right now) played in that sketch--funny--I felt bad for her because there is nothing worse than making fun of a woman's looks and wieght(Us married ones here can attest). But hey it was who she was and the dang sketch killed.
 
Saw the skit on the news yesterday and it didn't seem funny at all. They then showed the NY governor's response and it seemed pretty reasonable to me.

Thanks, Mom. I guess when Eddie Murphy did his Stevie Wonder impression, he was making fun of all blind people too. Here's some humor more at your level:
