Give blood, graduate with a better grade !

How is this for a way to earn a better grade, give blood !
Just one more pint and I get a 4.0 GPA, 😱

College students' blood donation statistics will be linked to their academic performance and assessment at college, according to Beijing Municipal Health Bureau (BMHB) Monday.

Ma Yanming, deputy director of publicity at the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau, told the Global Times that mobile blood donation vehicles have previously been sent to universities, but from now on they would like to collect blood at universities on a regular basis.

Blood donation facts will be listed as an indicator that affects the evaluation results and academic performance of college students and the assessment of teachers. Meanwhile, universities have been asked to create two volunteering teams to promote blood donation, according to the BMHB.

"College students are always the main source of blood donations as they are young, more willing to join the cause, and also more easily recover, while donating helps them learn to care for others," Ma said.

Insane! I hope this isn't a trend that catches on. There are plenty of people who can't give blood for a multitude of reasons. This is a really manipulative way to get more people to donate blood.

And not everyone can dunk a basketball, but we still give sports scholarships. I think I would be okay with this as long as those that don't or can't donate are not penalized.

I like it. Even something like $50 makes people think "eh, not worth it" but adding a small bonus to their grades is enough to make them donate blood or spend 5 hours on a single math problem.

I don't particularly approve of sports scholarships either, but at least those scholarships do not directly improve your grade. I'm fine with all sorts of benefits for donating blood, it's a great cause and you should be able to get something in return. Just not this.

I donate a lot and think it's a great cause, but giving grades as an incentive is wrong. Your grade in a class has nothing to do with how much blood you give.

It teaches them how the real world works. Be liked --> get ahead. Suck a dick --> get ahead. Give blood --> get ahead.

I started organizing blood mobiles at my school - and to encourage more kids to donate, I gave them extra credit. Those who couldn't donate, if they volunteered to help the Red Cross, I gave them extra credit.

I had some professors do that, students could get a few points from giving blood or volunteering to work for the campus blood drive.

My sister had a near death experience from donating...shes rather small (~120lbs) and they hooked her up with a big ass bag and left her. She was just sitting so didn't realize how weak she was until her vision started to fuzz out. She managed to pull the needle out or whatever but kept bleeding (shes always been a bleeder) and ended up passing out. If I recall she ended up loosing nearly a third of her blood.

Shes got a real phobia of needles now lol.

Something like that happened to me. I was 130lbs when donating. I was so tired after donating that I fell asleep on the floor in the hallway, next to my locker.

Do I hear academic dishonesty?:sneaky:

We get 5% extra credit on exams for donating blood. I'm not allowed to, so for those that can't he allows to write a paper instead. Ok with me.
