Its not though. I grew up with the 80's metal bands. Vixen, Joan Jett, Lita Ford, Lee Aaron, Dora Pesch, etc... are all great bands.

If you look for my grad pic on pics.bbzzdd you might just notice my hair band look. 😛

The Gathering makes pop-'music' nowadays :disgust:

And if you look at the whole Metal genre anyway, rather than just heavy metal you can also add Within Temptation, After Forever, Autumn and a whole lot of other Gothic Metal bands. (Don't confuse Gothic Metal with ordinary Gothic bands, the latter are the kind of pop bands attracting an audience which thinks it's cool to dress and look like a corpse).

Agree. Not only does Evanescence SUCK, they're not even "rock". They just try really hard, and fail.

They are from right here in London Ontario Canada and they suck so bad it isn't even funny.

They're not so bad. Oracle was pretty hardcore and Spit was good for Alt-Metal. Probably better than 90% of the crappy NuMetal of the time. The last album was kinda weak tho.

Dude, they were so put together it isn't funny. I saw them about 3 months after they got put together. They couldn't even play their own songs. It was pathetic. I have little to no respect for that band.

 
Besides what has been mentioned - Drain STH is great. Also, you could check out Phantom Blue (early 90s). A Perfect Circle used to have a female. I would call Babes in Toyland pretty heavy, if not all that metal. The Nymphs - female vocalist - more of an alternative hard rock band than metal. Genitorturers, White Zombie, and many others not popular enough to be well known.
