Girlfriend's Car Got Keyed (What to do)

She just moved into a new house (she's renting a room w/ a bunch of people) and on her first night, she parked across the street from the house. Next day, she noticed during her lunch break at work, that her brand new 2003 Ford Escape Limited got keyed on the right passenger and right rear passenger doors (she was very "emotional" that day, definitely not a good thing).

When she got home, she talked w/ the roommates and they said not to park over across the street, that neighbor doesn't like people parking there (obviously the street is open to the public for parking), but still on her 1st night she had to learn the hard way.

Now, what can I do? I'm thinking about setting up some kind of webcam and trying to catch them in the act (it wouldn't be entrapment, because parking there is not illegal, but don't know to do it. Tips?

I'd just set a cam corder or something up and get the guy in the act. People do that all the time and it's perfectly legal.

park 3 cars infront of their house, when you know they're home. Crowd the front of their house so if they are really so unreasonable about this they'd have to be pissed. Sit in another car like 2 doors down with a nice video camera. Watch the dude. Call the police the second you get the tape, and get out of the car afterwards and confront the guy, with the video camera, so you can get a clear face shot and show how angry he will be.

Piss the dude off, you may have to wait a while so he doesn't think it's a setup....perhaps even having a 'group' show up and crowd his street side, kill the house lights and have everyone leave, but double back through the back (if possible)....then stack him out....let him get close, on tape and then once the recording is done signal a friend(s) to come out and FUBAR him.

Personally I'd handle it that way and then 'file the police report'. You were just trying to move your car since he made his point, when he attacked you.

second thought, I'd serve his as$ on a milk carton and be active in trying to find my dear missing neighbor.

awsome, set up a webcam that can see ~3 ft when there is light...or did you get the special night vision webcam?

another vote for file report, the police wont really care(w/o evidence it's really an unsolveable crime, at this point) Stake out, but don't let it get out of hand with you jumping out with a bat and getting "even". Your cam idea is good, but get(buy/barrow) a camcorder, I know the sony's have night vision. Gather some evidence, slap them with an arrest & have them pay for the damage.
