Girlfriend sucks at computers = Need free VirusKiller?

Not too knowledgeable about any good programs, and recomendations? My girlfriend has a basic Dell system and after using Kazaa, Winmx, etc.. she's managed to bog everything down. Looking for something free (or cheap?) that would clear up the system? Any recomendations would be much appreciated.

Have her get AVG, its a free virus program that works just as well as Norton or any of the others out on the market, should be fine for wha she needs.

Sounds like she probably has a bunch of spyware now.

does she go to college anywhere? most of them give out free norton or macafee now

To make sure you get everything install/run:

AVG Antivirus

TDS-3 - shareware

Adaware 6.0

Spybot Search and Destroy

CWShredder

Keep AVG installed and install a software firewall like Sygate Personal Firewall to make sure nothing is "calling home".
