Maybe a legal expert can weigh in on this, but seeing as how her parents would have had to sign the contract for the private school, aren't they liable for the cost through the end of the contract (either semester or annual)? It does seem like it would be absurd that they could sign the documentation to get her into a private school but immediately stop payments when she turned 18, footing her with a bill she never signed a contract for... The college thing is a separate issue, as she presumably doesn't have a current contract with a higher education institution; if her parents don't want to pay that, let her take out loans like everyone else.

Doubt she has a leg to stand on. "Every parent has the duty to provide his or her children with the basic necessities of life, including food, clothing, and shelter. ... The law generally does not dictate the level of support that is provided when the children live with both parents, but when, through divorce or other circumstances, the child is living with one parent, there are strict rules about the amount of financial support provided by the non-custodial parent. (http://www.treasurecoastlawfirm.com...e-parents-obligations-to-their-children.shtml)

The law does not dictate that they must pay for college, private school, designer blue jeans and cold water lobster. It mostly says you must provide the basics. Now this is NJ, a liberal bastion, so I wouldn't be surprised if the judge ordered the parents to provide maid service and daily massages to the poor downtroden victim.

Another vote for banging her.
Pretty long line. Are you sure you want to be after some of these schmoes?

That's why they invented condoms.

Reminds of me my last STD screening. The nurse asks if I mind if the interns watch them inspect my junk. My prayer to God was, "Dear Lord don't let me get a boner, and if I do give me a couple extra inches."
lolol

If you're gonna pray, couldn't pick a better time.

It would be male nurse day, my luck.:'(

they did, they paid through the Fall Semester. They did not re-up the contract through the Spring Semester, but the school is going to let her attend anyway.

That's what I was thinking about the private school as well. At best, they're not in a legally binding contract to pay for her entire tuition, but she still gets kicked out of the school. The parents don't seem to care at all about her having to leave a school where she's successful shortly before graduating, which makes it harder for me to sympathize with them.

Regarding college, she claims "They stopped paying my high school tuition to punish the school and me and have redirected my college fund, indicating their refusal to afford me an education as a punishment." IF it's really true that they're denying her a previously established college fund then that's pretty lame. Again, maybe not illegal, but still a petty and gross disregard for their child. They seem to be of the mentality that they only want to do anything for her so long as they have control over her, which is sad. Could you imagine if a child whose parents are now elderly, maybe underemployed and need help, say that they'll only do it if they get to control their lives? They have no obligation otherwise but it'd still be kind of crappy..

I went to a private school for 11th through 12th grades. And found out the hard way, after the parents divorced. The person attending the school signs the same forms the parents do, so all of the people that sign the document are responsible for paying it. It came up my 2nd year in college, when they were going to not accept me for a loan, because I was unknowingly defaulting on my previous educational agreement.

I had to straighten that out, before I could register for my second year.

So I'm guessing if the girl in the story signed her name to the forms, she's on the hook for paying if the mother/father stopped paying.

Judge has already thrown out her claims (or most of them).

the main ones. the attorney fee's are thrown out. The talking heads on TV are saying they think the guy she is living with is feeding her shit and just doing it to get attorney fees. because there are a bunch of crap the girl filled. nearly all of it has been thrown out.

Wow that is retarded. They really need to fix the lawsuit system in the states. You should not be able to sue for anything. Imagine being forced to declare bankruptcy because of your kid doing something like this against you.

" have redirected my college fund "
That's right sweetie, and whats more is that your mother, and I are spending your inheritance, BON VOYAGE!

What a disgusting self entitled witch of a daughter, looks like the parents were well rid of her at 18.....I hope her friends parents dont prop her up too much or she will never learn her lesson....
