"Click and drag" is, in some browsers, equivalent to typing the URL in the address bar and hitting enter. This means that the web server sees you coming as "direct" traffic with no referer. Some websites block direct linking to their images by filtering out requests that have a referer other than the site itself. No referer = no block.

Because Opera realizes that you might sometimes want to select part of the text of a link.
