My girlfriend and I were playing TF2 for a while, but it got very annoying when the series of events started repeating themselves.

My Girl: "Theres a spy disguised as a Pyro".
Random Guy #1: "Okay that was either a chick or a little boy."
Random Guy #2: "Definately a little boy, no girls on the internet."
etc.

Was better than when we played CS, though:

My Girl: "They're heading for the hostages".
Random Guy #1: "OMG a girl are you hot?".
Random Guy #2: "Do you like sex LOLOLOLOL".
etc.

Both of which usually leave me frusterated because everyone stops playing to talk to my girlfriend, and I have to listen to her getting pissed off. We have found a few servers where we've made some (not-13-year-old) friends that don't make rude comments and kick those who do, haha.

If that's true then why does my girl always quit when she's losing? Hahaha.

I concur. My ex-girlfriend experienced the exact same thing. I will always remember what she told me: "That's exactly why girls who play games play them on Consoles and off-line".

Because as soon as little boys/kids (if I say "men" it doesn't really apply since maturity isn't known to them) hear a girl's voice they react as if they were aliens or mere sexual objects. And the exceptions are too few to make a tangible difference for the girls to stay on-line and tolerate the immature ones. At least on Consoles, as she said, they don't have to deal with such an ordeal. And to stay more on-topic she liked playing Medieval games (I mean the series, Total War), Portal and other puzzle games on Steam. She tried TFC and TF2 for a while, and she quit for the exact same reasons than the post above.

I miss her though :(

We were actually talking about girl gamers last night in guild chat in WoW. One of the females said she could beat me while drunk... I just scoffed at such and audacious claim! Although, I did play against a female in some games the other day. I literally played Forza 2 steering with my nose and still won . I also played with only one hand (I pushed the accelerator (R2) against my leg) and won. Sorry but she was out... need me a challenge!

Yeah I think it's hard to detect a female in todays games anyways with voice chat since all of the young ones playing sound like females. I have a few female friends who play wow.

Happy to say I've never misconstrued a young teen male for a female :p. Younger males tend to have the squeaky voices rather than the softer tone or so I think .

Girls would play more games if they just gave them a chance, in my experience.

I love any decent FPS. Was a big fan of Half-Life and Unreal, used to play WoW and Oblivion, I think Team Fortress is blast, and Portal was pretty cool too I think. I liked the puzzle aspect. I think games like CS and the like are fun, but I don't have any desire to play that as much and get my ass consistenly beat by players who use cheats and/or dedicate 6 hours a day to it (generalization, of course).

I'm in need of some new games and I wish my rig could handle Crysis. I'd love to give that one a go.

They exist in online games, but you can't blame them for not talking or interacting if they're just going to get bombarded by a gaggle of 13-year-olds.

did you try the crysis demo? you might not be able to run it in 100% graphical glory, but that doesn't mean the game won't be fun :)

I think i'm going to try and get my girlfriend to play through HL:1 and HL:2. The only FPS she has really played is CS:S.
