Nope, they are not "on top" of each other![]()
hmmm... so that is what causes toads to reproduce every spring. And I thought it was just a normal biological function. How stupid can I be!Originally posted by: redly1
you can thank all those folks who put fertilizer, pesticides and herbicides on their laws 7 times a year for wonders of nature like this

I am awake, but this discussion is about that supposed mutant which is clearly 2 toads (1 male and 1 female) reproducing. Start another thread if you wish to discuss polluting the environment.Originally posted by: redly1

Wakeup. there is an increasing rate of these amphibian defects in many areas across the country. Coincidentally, these areas also have elevated levels of chemicals like...tada...fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides...in surface waters (wow, isn't that where amphibians live?). So, hmm, lets see...if it's in surface water, what do you suppose the odds are that it's in the drinking water
but, I'm sure that's just a farce anyway

You are also missing some vital info dude. Frogs and toads (salamanders too) are very sensitive to environmental changes which can cause chromasonal defects. These defects are usually deformation of the larval state (tadpole) which is then carried to adulthood. However the biggest cause of these changes is not pollution directly, but ultraviolet light instead. More spontaneous mutations are caused by UV light than any other cause. This is why in a non polluted pond you will find numerous mutations. And no this doesn't mean that spray cans eroding the ozone layer are at fault. This is a well documented natural occurance that has been going on for millions of years.Originally posted by: redly1Wakeup. there is an increasing rate of these amphibian defects in many areas across the country.
