You're not the first person to bring this up, and it's surprising to me that people would think this way. I can't imagine any parent who would do that to their child, and it makes me wonder what it is about this woman that makes people think she is such a horrible person when we know almost nothing about her.

The idea that it would not surprise many people if that actually were the case is reflective of the state our society.
