Where's the option for Birch Beer?

What's birch beer? Regional specialty? I've never heard of it.

Birch beer is sort of a cross between ginger ale and root beer kinda spicy and one of the few sodas that can be drunk at room temp and still be thirst quenching. I brew it at home but, birch beer can be found in most of the country.

Both have their merits, but I'm going to go with Ginger ale, what with it's folk remedy qualities. And it's close relation to Ginger Beer. And it's uncanny ability to mix extremely well with Whiskey and other regal apertifs.

Win Win Win.

I had some freshly collected Baltic birch sap beverages over this past summer. Birch+sugar+lemon peel+cinnamon = winnar.

Root beer. Soda should be sweet. Ginger ale is as sweet as Dick Cheney during a colonoscopy.

Really? I could see Dick Cheney looking forward to that....

I forget the brand, but Trader Joes sells a "Ginger Ale" that is very sweet.

Is there a difference between root beer and sasparilla?

yes. But I have no idea what it is.

I love sasparilla but when I drink root beer, it is sort of weak compared to sasparilla. Maybe they don't use the root anymore? 🙂

not a fan of root beer
ginger ale reminds me of being sick, b/c my mom always gave some to us when we were sick
although ginger ale + cranberry juice is a good combo.
