If you want to go cheap you can use a straight razor shaver. The blades a dirt cheap. You can get a pack for like $1 or so. It's just you lose a lot of the conforts of a disposable blade. And it takes longer to shave. If you not careful with a straight blade you can cut yourself. You also have to be careful to change your method when doing different parts of your face.

But that is why they came out with disposables.....

Wow, 2 years. That's almost impossible to believe.

maybe you are just a babyface.

I have pretty coarse whiskers...I shave in the shower after I wash my hair. I get a month out of a blade shaving 3-4x a week. I swap blades when my neck isn't getting clean shaven on a pass or two.

My boss buys these on ebay...all have been genuine...but they are also probably gray market/black market. I know you can buy real wood flooring that is marked for export only for a fraction of the price of the same exact stuff along with many other products the same way.

When I shave everyday, a Fusion blade lasts me a week. Can't you tell when they go weak or do you guys really have that thin, light facial hair?

I have thick whisker type of hair. But I just keep using it until the blades eventually pop out of place...

Who makes a good beginner's safety razor for a reasonable price?

How is This one?

I have that exact model, no complaints here, bought from classic shaving. I buy my blades from WalMart, pack of 10 for ~$1.50. I forget where I got my brush from. You can get a good one for ~$30 from Crabtree and Evelyn, I use their shave soap, very good.

I shave everyday, fairly heavy growth, blade lasts a week. I couldn't get more than 4 or 5 good shaves from the Mach 3, that is why I went with the DE safety razor, blades are CHEAP.

I had some nicks the first week or 2 when I switched, now I never get nicks or razor burn (which I would always get from the Mach 3 if I went past ~5 shaves on a blade).

What brand are the blades you get at walmart? I was thinking of getting a sample pack from www.westcoastshaving.com and see which one I like... I read Derby blades have good bang for the buck and are easy to work with...

What is the difference between badger and boars hair? From what I understand the badger hair creates the lather much quicker...

I wonder if I should spend $35 bucks for a Vulfix brush when Target probably has one that is 10 bucks and works just as well.

You mean basterd.

Yeah I'm a cheap basterd. I don't think it's fair to charge 20 bucks for a pack of shaving blades.

I usually change it every 2 months or when it starts pulling by the hairs... Where did you get an 8 pack for 17 bucks?

Amazon occasionally has good deals on Mach 3 blades. I bought 2 12 packs recently and the total order was $33.98. These were sold by Amazon and not one of their stores. Definitely the real deal. This was a discounted sale, you have to watch for them.

The blades at Walmart are Personna. I haven't tried any other, I just get them at Walmart out of convenience, they seem to work out ok for me.

I have a Vulfix brush, works great. I never tried a boars hair brush, everything I read says they aren't as good. I would spend the $35 on a good brush, it improves all razor shaving, so even if you find DE shaving isn't for you it is still usable.
