Gigybyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939 (CPU support help!)

Hi all,

I have a problem, my problem is that i have a Gigybyte GA-K8NS Ultra-939 motherboard and i am not sure if it supports an Amd Opteron 148 cpu. On gigbyte's website it says it supports the opteron 144, 146, 152, and 170 but im not sure if it supports the 148 one because it is not listed. Does anyone know if my motherboard supports a AMD Opteron 148 cpu?

Yes it does, I am running a 148 on 1 right now. As to bios, I am running F9 right now, tho it came with an earlier version,but it ran the chip fine.
F9 bios has more options as to ram timings which is nice. This board is actually a bit more stable than my Neo2-F was.

I contacted gigabyte and they said my motherboard doesnt support the 148 opteron, but i do believe it will work. I have a question tho.... do you think i can outperform an Amd FX-57 if overclocked to 2.8ghz or 3.0ghz? Or maybe an FX-60?

hi m8 i to have a Gigabyte K8NS Ultra and a 148 opteron and was just wonderin if u have tried that overclock with 2 gig of memory
ive heard reports that they clock better with 2X512 rather than 2x1024

any chance of a bit more info on ur bios settings plz

Howdy. I havn't tried 2 x 1gb yet, tho I imagine at higher htt it would need 2T Shoot me a pm and I'll work out some settings as to bios. Really don't want to steal this persons thread
