Gigapro CPU?

What the heck are these? I'm looking for a replacemnt mobo for an old IBM netvista for a client (microATX format, Celeron 950), and I found a s370 MOBO that comes w/ a Gigapro 650 on it. Interestingly, it's a cheaper solution than buying the mobo w/o the CPU. What kind of performance do they get from gigaprop 650's Any benchmarks that you know of?

From what I have found doing some research, is that a Transmeta chip?

From what I have heard, the transmeta chips perform worse then Celerons! You should stay away from transmeta. Your Celeron 950 would beat that thing in a heartbeat. I would look at the AthlonXP 1700 (should be like $50 at NewEgg), and a Shuttle nForce2 board (like $60 at NewEgg). So for $30 more, you have a much faster system!

Transmeta chips are mostly for very low voltage devices, not meant for desktop or power use at all. Like Josh said, grab a 1700+ or 1800+, the Shuttle AN35-Ultra Nforce2 board, and enjoy a nice speed boost

thanks for the advice. It's actually just meant to be a motherboard replacement for a client, on these stupid IBM computers that are blowing cap's, but are off warranty. It's bizarre. They had 3 of these netvista computers, they are two years old and between the three here is what has all failed:
1 cd-burner
2 motherboards
1 cpu
1 hard drive.
Gotta love brandname reliability. 🙂 i'm just glad I'm the consultant called in to fix them, and not the company that sold them. I have successfully stolen business from a much larger company. 😀

Why not just order the motherboard/cpu combo, then use the Gigapro as weight the next time you go fishing?
