Gigabyte X vs Non-X

What's the diff between the X and non-X versions of otherwise same namings in Gigabyte mobos?

Matching the chipset to the socket. X58 is 1366, X79 is 2011 while the others Z, H and so on are for that specified socket 1155, 1156, nnn
