Gigabyte vs ASUS Motherboard fan control

Maybe I'm just an idiot, but wasn't Gigabyte's fan control supposed to have voltage adjusting as an option? It only seems to offer PWM modification to fan speeds regardless of BIOS / EasyTune config.

Didn't ASUS offer both modes for fan control??

On 3 of my 4 Gigabyte Intel mobo that I have the last 4 years, only the CPU fan header has voltage adjustment control. The rest 2-3 headers are PMW only.

One of my mobo is the high end Sniper gaming Z77 board (which I got it mainly for the Intel NIC and Creative sound).

Assuming you are talking about the cpu fan header, it seems to only offer pwm control for current Z87 boards (and Z77 as well). Older models like Z68 indeed had both pwm and voltage control. Asus boards are the same, in fact they ditched voltage control earlier than Gigabyte.

I don't know which mobo you have but for instance on Z87-UD3H the casefanheaders are all voltage controlled. If you have a spare one you could use a casefanheader for the cpu fan and control speeds using Speedfan.
