Yeah, you really got me there. 78W, wow. There'd be no global warming if everyone bought NVIDIA, I'm sure. I'm not necessarily talking about these exact two cards either.
says the guy with the 300 watt gpu :(and 160 watts of performance.
relax man we were having a civil conversation.

Nice review but the Gigabyte card is one of the worst RX 480 out there and the MSI GTX 1060 one of the best.
I would really like to see the best of both in a big vs review, like the XFX GTR Black or PowerColor Red Devil RX 480s vs MSI/ASUS or EVGA GTX 1060 6GB

^^This. They picked the worse card they could w/o resorting to a reference card. Gigafail went with worse components than reference, smh.

I always thought G1 cards were some of the best, My G1 is built like a tank , overclocks like crazy and runs cool and quiet. Its a beast!.

its 78 watts not 50

From the review, at gaming power consumption, I'm reading 305W vs 247W, for a 58W difference. That said, the extra heat is a PITA in the summer. But frankly, it's quite awesome in the winter.

Also, someone mentioned this before, but the Gigabyte G1 RX 480 AIB is probably the worst RX 470/480 AIB on the market in terms of cooling performance. It is a whopping 8C warmer (81C vs 73C) at load compared to the MSI RX 480 AIB (considered one of the best). This is while the Gigabyte AIB runs about 90 MHz core clock lower than the MSI AIB (1303 MHz vs 1216 MHz).

If [H] reviewed the MSI AIB instead of the Gigabyte AIB, I'd expect about a 5% improvement and 8C lower load temperature, at around the same power consumption.

Could be different between Nvidia and amd.
Ever since carfax had glowing recommendations of the g1 card, and reviews I read confirmed it. I was a g1 believer for Nvidia cards. I really haven't saw anything on the amd side that makes me feel the same.
I feel like sapphire is the equivalent of the g1, with trix cooler.

For Nvidia cards, Gigabyte G1's are decent (EVGA set the bar pretty low with their GTX 1070/1080 failures). It's been well documented the Gigabyte G1 RX 470/480's are terrible.
