I want to get a Q9450 and don't really have any plans of OCing, modestly if at all, just want a good, stable, inexpensive board, curious if the P35-DS3L will fit the bill or if I have to step up to a more expensive board.

Thanks.

Google is your friend :p.

According to this the latest beta bios F8b adds support for the Yorkfield Q9xxx series, so a bios update and you are set.

Thank you. Yes, I did research that, but that is beta after all, and for all I knew people might've been having problems, so I thought it'd be wise to ask. Hopefully I can trust Gigabyte on this.

Indeed, I would think that the Beta's should eventually find their way to an official release but I am not familiar with how long Gigabyte take to release an official version. Might aswell give it a go and see how you do.

I have that motherboard and an X3350 (Xeon version of Q9450). The flash went flawlessly and my system is rock solid with the cpu OCed to 3.2 (could probably do more but I'm a first time OCer and don't really need the speed.) You may or may not need another cpu to flash it with though. I bought a Celeron 420 (~$40) to flash my board with before trying my cpu.

Good to hear, I would imagine another CPU would be necessary since the board would not ship with that beta BIOS.

Thanks!

Well I can tell you my experience with the board has been mixed. I can OC a E2180 to 3Ghz which is great, but the ds3l has problems retaining bios settings. Ill successfully boot with my OC settings, but the next day after booting again the bios settings are set to default. A quick google will reveal that im not the only one, but for the price i guess you can't complain. I hear good things about the Abit. Hope this helps.
