Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI SATA - which one?

Which SATA port should I use on my Gigabyte K8NXP-SLI.... the nforce 4 SATA II one or the SIL one? Any speed difference? (drives are only SATA 1)

Chris, use the nForce4 SATA. Looking at the motherborard with the proc on top, they should be numbered 1,0,3,2 from top to bottom (I think!)

 
FYI rtfm means "read the f-ing manual"...

Which I did and didn't see it specifically mention any benefits of the NForce4 or the Sil SATA (there are 4 ports on each). The manual is available online: http://america.giga-byte.com/M.../manual_k8nxpsli_e.pdf ... if you see something in it I missed let me know. Not a very nice answer to what I thought was an intelligent question (and my first post here).

Page 11 (and again on page 26) tells the say the NForce 4 boasts 300 MB/s vs 150 on the Sil but since SATA drives are 150 that doesn't matter.

I was thinking possibly since the NForce 4 controls a lot of other things that it might be more efficient to use the Sil one - which is why I asked.... Was hoping maybe someone did some tests or something.
 
Add the fact that if you overclock, you can lock the nForce-controlled SATA ports but not the Sil ones based on the PCI bus... go nForce.

If you use the Nvidia SATA then you will not need a SATA driver floppy - I can vouch for this from my own personal experience last saturday night!

Alright.. looks like I was totally off. I thought the Sil ports were SATA II ports, but it looks like the Sil ports are only for setting up a RAID-5. Pretty much useless unless that's what you're doing.

The nForce ports support SATA II and NCQ.
