Gigabyte HD3850 512mb w/ Zalman HSF

Dang, the only thing I'm doing to stop myself from buying a pair is telling myself that GDDR3 sucks compared to GDDR4 😉

Damn that's a pretty good deal, I hope this drives the prices of the 9600gt down some more.

$94.25 shipped to me kinda kills the deal as I could just get the 8800GS from the egg for $129.99 with free shipping and a $30 MIR for $99 after MIR :-/ If shipping would have only been $5 - $7 I'da bought one a few mins ago 🙁

Yea cheapest shipping to me was $13. UPS Ground is never any cheaper then USPS Priority, yet it takes an age and a half longer to get.

I wouldn't say shipping *kills* the deal, but thinking on it again caused me to cancel my order.

It's not that hard to get a 512MB 3850 for around $130~, sometimes less after a rebate. And once the 4000 series hits, it'll become all the easier.

Given that, and the fact that I don't absolutely need card...

Nice deal! but...

Shipping Type Shipping & Handling
UPS Worldwide Express $98.39
UPS Worldwide Saver $94.92
UPS Worldwide Expedited $89.19
USPS Global Express Guarunteed $72.05
USPS Express Mail International $39.05

$40 minimum shipping? 🙁

I was thinking of giving this to my friend as an expensive birthday present, but having it cost $40 in shipping is just too much, I only expected at the most $12 shipping.

I cant imagine international shipping at any place is gonna be cheap.

it was 12 dollars ups ground for me to ny.

LOL!

Where you from?

How does this stack up next to an X1950 Pro 256mb or even an older x1900xtx? I really haven't been following ATI cards much lately (with the x1950 being the last ATI based card I bought and that was just for my backup rig).

Feature-wise, this one is all over the older x19xx series cards. But as far as gaming performance with DX9 titles at 1280x1024 up to 1680x1050...is the HD3850 a clear improvement over the x1950?

I'd jump on it and sell your older card!

it's a bit better than a 1950
(as a backup rig a x19xx is really good already!!)

Yep, shipping was a killer but I bent over and took it. I needed this for a htpc I'm building and the fan alone is worth about 20 bucks. Sure wished they had a 9600gt for about 100 shipped so I could maybe someday sli with the one I already own in my gaming rig.

edit: glad I ordered at about 0100 in the morning.

Guess I don't have to lose any sleep over my decision to cancel after all.

NewBiiz says it was a pricing error. The cancellation e-mails are going out. I got one just now, even though I cancelled last night anyways.
