Gigabyte HD 3870 Question

The other day I came close to ?pulling the trigger? on a new ATI HD3870, Gigabyte model GV-RX387512H.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814125086

But then I read one of the reviews that pointed out that this card uses GDDR3 memory as opposed to GDDR4 like all of the other 3870s. I thought that maybe this was a typo but I checked the manufacturer?s website and they also list GDDR3 memory used for this model.

I tried searching for some sort of review or comparison of this card on the web but all of the reviews that I found were for the ?B? model, which has GDDR4 memory.

So I?m wondering how much of a performance difference might one expect between a 3870 with GDDR4 memory vs. a 3870 with GDDR3 memory?

Any thoughts on this matter?

If the DDR3 is an issue, look here Link for a Sapphire or Diamond that is cheaper (considering the free shipping and I think there is a 10% coupon available). I can't believe how the Visiontek has crept up in price.

I was also wondering about this. I was careful to not be comparing GDDR3s with GDDR4s in my reviews research.

GDDR3 instead of 4? wow thats bogus. I would stay away. You might as well get the 3850 version of this card and just OC it.
